    New to Automated

IndexSwing- i trade primarily futures as well and I'm not a programmer (kinda more like a non-engineering quant if there is such a thing) but I've put together some auto trading applications for myself and my partners using autotrader from TT. they have a developers community to help you...

i haven't looked at those, but did you consider weekend time decay?

    Question about implied volatility.

calculate the the IV yourself and back into the interest rate used in the IV on your screen. It's the likely culprit if you feel the IV you see it too high.

    Futures Options

The exchanges employ market makers to maintain liquidity in alot of options. Emini options have decent markets overnight, not great. Here's a screenshot of pre-market today taken at 8:15 CST.

IB Slow to enable strikes in futures options

Hi PocketChange- Did you create that options layout or is it canned from somewhere? I want to develop more options functionality for myself and the group I trade with so I'm investigating the futures options screens already on the street. do you have any opinions there?

OIL SMASHED to 80$-interesting stocks to benefit

You also have to like the exchanges with all this activity. CME, ICE, NYX, NDAQ are doing well.

OIL SMASHED to 80$-interesting stocks to benefit

Transports should benefit. Delivery companies should. FDX is down worse than the general market. I"m writing $65 puts.

    CME/ICE Integration in Power

I don't think we'll see CME and ICE doing any business together anytime soon. Something has to done to boost the electricity markets and I would expect a NYMEX electricity product to emerge as competition for the ICE products. That will open the door for more spreading and arbitrage. Bringing...

How is your front end holding up?

I'll tell ya what, you gotta hand it to CME and Globex. No problems with their matching engines throughout this freakish high spike in trading volume. I'm thinking of buying more CME stock. I scaled out of some last year 'round 700 and will get back in now. My front end, TT, has been great...

Is There a Router Like This?

I dont think a restart is necessary at least for tt. There was a big debate about this on their user forum last year. http://forums.tradingtechnologies.com/showthread.php?t=214&page=2&highlight=router Date: 5/21/2007 Number: CA065-07 Subject: X_TRADER® Remote Enhancements in 7.x...

    Futures vs stocks

they're both a tough trade. futures requires more discipline and that accounts for the higher failure rate.

    Futures vs stocks

I agree with Surdo. the tax advantage to futures make a big difference. you also have much better leverage in futures than stocks. this can be both good, and bad.

Ninja + Zenfire vs Ninja + TT feed

You can trade the old ER2 contract on TT and I wish more people would. This contract has dried up to hell. I don't think enough people have access to ICE to support it. I haven't traded it much since it moved over, but would like to if liquidity ever picks up.

what the hell?? Whats up with liquidity?

Options market makers can't hedge themselves by shorting stocks. They can't make markets.

LEHMQ caught up in the buzz?

They don't exist any longer and went bankrupt. I don't know how LEH can rally out of this.. I'm curious about their front end, TradePipe. Anyone know anything about it?

    TradePipe (Lehman front end)

was it competitive? did it have a spreading application? automated trading capabilities? I was sniffing around for a thin client a few years ago to push out to some of my remote trading rooms. was it a thin app easily deployed and / or was the software installed directly on your pc? how was...

    TradePipe (Lehman front end)

I've heard from some friends griping that TradePipe (Lehmans front end for futures trading) is going away. I never used TradePipe...what was so good about it anyway?

Can we short the Single Stock Futures?

Single stock futures suffer in liquidity because Wall Street has refused to promote SSF's. The IB's have made big $$ charging usurous interest rates for lending out stocks to shorts. As they make soo much cash on those loans, they've had no interest in promoting trade in SSF. This sillly...

Can we short the Single Stock Futures?

Whoops. I was incorrect. You cannot short SSF's (which is complete BS).

Can we short the Single Stock Futures?

Yes. You may short SSF's. As further clarification regarding the SEC’s Emergency Order restricting short sales, please note that there are no restrictions on trading SSFs on OneChicago and that members may buy and sell in the ordinary course throughout the SEC’s order that expires on...
