Snow is speaking at 6:30 eastern standard time and I think it will be a market mover. Bloomberg reports that an assistant of his called the $ decline against the Euro "orderly and measured" or some such thing a couple of days back and the market is looking to see if Snow says the same thing...

Is there anybody here from France ?

1,000 Euro is definitely on the low end but it can be done. http://www.capi.mc/cgi-bin/public_immo.pl?Lan=EN&type=LOC&pays=2&pg_nb=3 Most of the cheap studios with a sea view are in the tall skyscraper that is at least a handful of blocks strait in from Larvotto. Don't remember the name...

At this price level on Friday afternoon I'm going into it flat. Of course, the fact that I did well this week and that I will be happy to take my current P&L into the weekend is probably affecting my judgment. :) Cheers, TRADERguy

I took my profits but may get long again for the release of the Fed minutes.

    You mean 1.2900?

Could be interesting this time. Two of the Fed governors didn't request a rise in the discount rate at the last meeting. If they started talking about holding on rates at the previous meeting, then that could lead to speculation that the fed will hold in December. I'll hold my long position...

It might be OK in FX tomorrow (for a day with no US data) because Europe and especially London are open. A healthy percentage of the FX interbank trade goes through London. Cheers, TRADERguy

btw- For those that have it, is your Bloomberg TV working? Mine has been down for 20 minutes (only Bloomberg) and I don't want to waste time calling the cable company if it's a Bloomberg problem. Thanks, TRADERguy

I bet he is still in the same trade, averaging down periodically and having to add several dollars to his original $1 position. :D

Bloomberg is reporting that there may have been Japanese intervention this morning; propping up the USD.

Now what does everybody think about the Fed meeting. Let's assume that they raise a quarter and leave the statement basically unchanged. Any other scenario should be a no brainer except for the possibility of a whipsaw like last Friday. Any thoughts anyone? Cheers, TRADERguy

After Friday I refuse to discount the possibility of the Euro ignoring all short term factors and going up for no particular reason.

In general, I've learned to take predictions of experts with a grain of salt. Although the reports you mentioned basically got it right so far. Only it went down quickly and couldn't get through resistance below 1.2900 so now it's going up. btw- if it's anything other than technicals I missed...

True and the market has been concentrating on the statement that accompanies the fed interest rate decision for quite some time now. Of course, the fed hasn't delivered a surprise rate change in ages either. Cheers, TRADERguy
