MA's that claim they work against a knife are BS No MA has ever proven effective against knives in any quantifiable way. Get a black magic marker and go against any MA guy who claims he can handle a knife and ill show you a guy full of black marks that represent him bleeding to death after...

Ive heard this line of argument 1000 times and its simply wrong. Yes the fighter matters, but the STYLE matters greatly and is very easy to prove. Take 100 typical Karate guys from 100 random schools. Take 100 typical BJJ guys from 100 random schools. Sort them into weight/age...

Sorry, a japanese jiu jitsu guy cannot take out 2 guys. Traditional japanese jiu jitsu is mostly TMA crap. I was wondering how long it was going to take for someone to bring up multiple opponents. Let me tell you the truth. Strikers have no advantage over multiple opponents. No MA is...

You dont see good technical boxing in MMA because boxing DOESNT WORK IN MMA. Yes, I said it. The striking in MMA is modified. If you try and use pure boxing it makes takedowns TRIVIAL. Striking changes completely when you have to consider takedowns.

Nonsense. Either a fake MT fighter or a 1 in a million fluke. qi is gargabe More hype. San Shou is an MT rip off and has only recently held its own against MT. MT's record is far far above san shou's over all.

Well not quite. Machida started training BJJ at age 15 and has beaten top level BJJ black belts in submission grappling tournaments. He is clearly a BJJ Black Belt level grappler as well. UFC likes to hype the karate angle to add a bit of flavor to the mix. He's an MMA dude with a karate...

They train it and many are still in the process of converting to it. For example: The MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program) is basically BJJ now. The early UFC's allowed head butts, and groin strikes and it didnt help their practitioners stop the BJJ guys from destroying them. In...

Sambo and Judo are already on my list. Fedor destroys everyone because Fedor is simply crazy good at everything. But he is pretty much the only sambo/judo guy who has been really been that successful in MMA. He is an exception on the tail end of the bell curve. As a trader, you already...

Go try holding a BJJ black belts fingers to prevent him from submitting you. Let me know how long it takes for you to wake up  :p :D There are no "tricks" in real fighting. Just techniques that really work and many that dont.

The full nelson is a wrestling hold still used today, and it can not choke you out. You said the kid learned BJJ from his dad, so it was a mata leon/RNC Virtually all the BJJ chokes are blood chokes designed to make you unconscious in a few seconds. Air chokes take too long. Well...

It was a rear naked choke, the "mata leon" and he put you to sleep in a few seconds. Its trivial to get on people who dont know BJJ. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlXJjb7hiFI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_l7wpQH77JE

simulators = doing kata = mostly waste of time trading = real fighting If you ever want a mind blowing experience, walk into your local BJJ school and ask to roll with the BJJ black belt there as your intro to decide if you want to sign up. Tell him you want proof this stuff really works...

Im a BJJ brown belt and the original poster nails it. MMA filtered down the list of what really works and it looks like this: BJJ Muay Thai Wrestling Boxing Full contact kick boxing - the real stuff like K1 Some Judo - less effective without the Kimono in the ring Sambo Here is a...
