Any work for a recent college grad?

Let me put it this way, you're hardly humble - you're arrogant. Most major firms routinely assume that the training of a top level trader will cost the firm $500k-$1mm in expenses, losses etc. Thats why top firms pay traders so well - hiring new guys to fill old shoes is very expensive...

    Block Boxes, Volatility, and Manipulation

I'm with Fred on this one. The so-called dreaded bots provide liquidity, and trade mechanically. To make money, you- 1. Dont need a gazillion dollars, the gazillion actually get in the way 2. Have to pay attention ALL day and trade accordingly. 3. The relationships bots use are...

    Gold Rally...

Another goldbug who thinks a 1.5% move is bigtime. Dude, I bot jva at 5.75 and kicked it out 2 days later for 8.10 - in gold thats what a $ 150 move in gold? Until gold does that, OK, I'll even settle for a $50 move, its a sleepy commodity.

    Block Boxes, Volatility, and Manipulation

What a dopey article. Putting on arb, implies you either let it roll off at maturity, eg deliver stocks v some basket, or you have to take it off,eg, unwind it. Trading against arbs is pretty simple - they usually come back to unwind. Keep in mind that volume comes to volume, so some awful...

If you're so hot, why not trade 1 Russell mini, you can make $200-300 a day doing that easily. Commiss less than $5 RT - you have no expenses, showing a return in the 100% range will garner attrention.

    where to now with crude

Great article - thanks! Even more interesting as he works at MS, whose oil trading room was highlighted recently as being in White Plains. Keep in mind on China, that 35% of bank loans are non-performing, so, he may be right. But for now, seems psychology is trumping reality.

    What happened to briefing.com?

briefing is more valuable for their screening than news - I made $5Gs yesterday from their tipoff on JVA.

Any work for a recent college grad?

I'll give you some honest advice you wont like at all. With a GPA of 3.3 from a non-competitive public univ, you are wasting your time and money sending resumes to any tier 1 or tier 2 firms in NY. Tier 1 firms look for a MINIMUM GPA of 3.5 from Ivy League schools to get invited to submit...

Crude becoming a good rally killer

CL is funny as it only takes a few thousand lots thrown at CL, to impact es/zb etc where 10,000 lot trades are easily absorbed. es/zb/zn traders need to better understand or participate in cl.

    Block Boxes, Volatility, and Manipulation

Well, I'll reply to your clearly antagonistic comment. At a macro level, I would fade every trade you enter, as you clearly lose money most days and have never been consistently profitable. Heres why- 1. Liquidity and Volatility are 2 different things. Thanks for your input but I believe my...

    1% Range for a month

    1. Its summer time, low volumes, low everything. Be calm. 2. Dont overtrade - repeat - dont try to force the market to be something its not. I have lost real dough thinking summertimes had the same trading punch as fall/spring. Sometimes you just cant take money out of the market.

    where to now with crude

Too many supply variables in play to short crude, except maybe for an intraday play. Where would crude go if Nigeria or Iran had a supply dislocation overnight? Anyways, its the lack of refineries thats the bottleneck, not crude supply. Plus Venezuela has gutted their oil indstry for politcial...

Name the Worst Analysts in the business and worst research houses

NYT - for running news items slanted to just discredit a sitting president, hurt our economy and casting aspersions on the folks serving at low pay/high risk overseas - which they are the major beneficiary of. I wouldnt buy their paper at any price.

    Block Boxes, Volatility, and Manipulation

Grow up. 1. Stops are always run, sometimes you're on the wrong side. Big deal. 2. Institutions arent trading gods - they simply spook smaller traders into bailing out and eat up their capital in little bites. Grow some 'nads. 3. If anyone were to risk Fed regulatory wrath over...
