    Todays Dow Roller Coaster T&S

Watch carefully and during the day if you see size hitting several markets AT THE SAME TIME, SAME MINUTE, wait to see if follow through, then the market always goes the other way. Worked in AB the other day, its an amazing phenomena. I think whoever hit it, did so during a low liquidity period...

    Uunocal

Its no different than when the Japanese started buying Rockefeller Center in NY etc etc. The US public wailed and cryed the worldwas ending blah, blah, blah. Two years later they sell it back at a huge loss. Same deal here. US Dollars coming home for a rest.

    Briefing.com -Worth the Fees

They're good on econ number quick analysis, I've made dough there. Overall, I'd give them a B+ for content, A for effort. They mercilessly keep posting comments/news/analysis from 6AM EST until about 7PM EST. Sometimes later. I have their screen overlayed with a Dow Jones screen and...

    Briefing.com -Worth the Fees

They get some great news and some crap news. For a while I tried to trade on some of their comments and always lost money. Lately, they've been much better. You have to look at them in a yearly horizon, imho, to decide if they're worth it. Right now, I feel great about them.

Nasdaq Busts and my $11,000 story

Equaly interesting to ask, is that whoever sold off the stocks, if the market had tanked, would they have busted the trades at higher prices and subsitituted lower prices?

Nasdaq Busts and my $11,000 story

IB rep- It makes a lot of sense for you to say you'll get the facts and issue a statement though. Personally, I dont care if a broker makes a mistake, as long it is equitably corrected. I've had brokers , mistakenly, stick 20, 30 even 50 lots into my account and then issue a margin call -...

    refinery capacity and oil price

Its also a question of what type of crude and who can process it. You're confusing a specific traded crude with what actually is sold to refiners. Most refineries can only process specific types of crude, its not all fungible. You may also want to throw in Venezueal as a wild card - lots of...

Any work for a recent college grad?

Going to an "elite" school, although many of us label them as 'very competitive', simply proves you have the brain power to get into a school where a lot of smart people go, work and research. I think you'll find that the demand for Ivy league grads is much higher than state schools...

What will the world be like with crude @ $100/b?

I think a better discussion would be to ask if your energy costs doubled or tripled, what would you do? It would be a brake to most leisure industries, most corps would lay off, probably drop prices of homes in cold weather areas and raise house prices in moderate weather areas. The...

    Smart 'money'?

To be intellectually honest, you have to apply some actual results here. If you assume a constant dollar or share amount purchase, eg, 100 shares, how did he do P&L-wise? If he was up 46% of trades, but P was up x and only down y on L, hes a hero. Its a lot of work, so nobody does it.

Any work for a recent college grad?

The desire to do ANYTHING well, comes from with-in and to do truly well in ANY job, it has to be a burning desire above all else - eating, sleeping, drinking, whatever. This young man wants someone to pay him a salary, allow him to use someone elses capital and walk away scot-free if he...

Any work for a recent college grad?

Top tier firms hire from top tier schools. GPA of 3.5+ starting salary is US$100G, with no experience, although many returning intern, do a bit better. FYI, GS sent their #2 vice chairwoman and about 50 traders, salespeople and others to get Columbia juniors & seniors interested in GS this...

Any work for a recent college grad?

You guys miss the point 200%. A good entry level job for an Ivy grad, with grades above 3.5, is about $100Gs plus bonus of $25-50Gs, depending upon the firm. Hes a state college kid with a B average - they wont even consider him. My point is simply this - trading his $5Gs, he can make...

Any work for a recent college grad?

I'm simply pointing out to you, in very clear terms, that both your education and trading experience will not qualify you to even send a resume to a top tier firm to get a job which allows for significant salary or career growth. The other polite answers you're getting here are creating the...

    Block Boxes, Volatility, and Manipulation

You've never worked at a top tier firm have you? Even if true, you're talking about one deal out of thousands they did, one trade out of probably hundreds of thousands they did. Big deal. Maybe you need to re-think your own trading and stop blaming GS.
