    E-minis Liquidity and Volatility question

If you are prepared to accept some slippage in getting your size done, some folks will take your trade, if the cost to lay it off in another market doesnt exceed their carry cost. Your comment leads me to think you have never traded more than a few lots.

    E-minis Liquidity and Volatility question

True - but if you ask some of the arb houses for support, I'm sure they'd take the opposite side of your trade as an arb, since you appear to be a directional trader.

If you're able to trade size, and know volume comes to volume, please proceed full steam ahead, damn the torpedos!

Broker phone order error - my recourse?

Agree 200% - I'd still like to know which broker though.

    E-minis Liquidity and Volatility question

Come on - a guy who swings 1,000 lots doesnt understand liquidity? During summer-time? IMHO, hes trying to judge if he can spike the market and if an arb house is sitting here who will grab his size, lay it off on ES and then bid the market in his face. If he wants to try and spike the...

Broker phone order error - my recourse?

The broker can claim its the final say, but , its not. A court gets the final say. What I dont understand is why someone loses money, and then posts here looking for free advice - go get a lawyer. Which broker did this anyways?

    CNBC - Cramer's Mad Money

Its a funny comment considering briefing will move stocks by simply mentioning them as well - sometimes with less thoughtful reasons than Cramer. Maybe briefing has a problem with competition?

Broker phone order error - my recourse?

I'd insist they split it with you, and no commissions. It is a MUTUAL error and most likely you'd win in a court. You'd argue the broker had every reason to know you were a mini-trader, didnt listen carefully and because his commiss is based upon transaction had a reason to enter a wrong...

Margin Call on an IB IRA account (Need Suggestions)

IRA money is untouchable in bankruptcy. Why would losses in IRAs be able to cross-over into non-IRA money? Maybe if you're a professional trader, you can take this as a loss on your taxes. All I can say is you need professional legal and accounting help - its an interesting...

    Huge Ten-year futures paper

Probably just a hedge against a bond they just issued and waiting to sell out. Watch over the next few days and see if GS starts buying it back, as they sell off the bond.

    Trading for a living

gwac- A couple of thoughts. 1. IMHO, if I were you ( and I'm not ), I would also consider foregone income (eg, your 250K per year) as a very real opportunity cost. So, say after 10 years staying at your job, you're up $2.5MM from salary (plus add-in benefits like insurance, vacation ect if...

    Protection against spikes in YM?

With all the YM posts, I went back to trading 1s and 2s, HOPING for a big gap. If they dont break trades on these moves, IMHO, its a good way to make a little ( or lose a little ).

    Trading for a living

Let me clarify a point or two. Yes, its probably a great thing to be your own boss, see whoever you want, whenever you want. But....anyone even remotely considering this path, should truly understand the meaning of being alone and and like being alone not to mention making decisions alone. It...

    Trading for a living

To the original poster- Most bank traders flame out early when they go out on their own. The problem is - 1. You're used to catching small pops, not using your own money and feel like you're part of "the market". The first time you lose real money, you'll fold like a cheap suit and not...

    Gold breaking out

ts interesting to note if this is simply a limited occurence or the beginning of a tide change. If GLD dumps 100 tons into the market, it is very disruptive. Plus all the gold trading volume you talk about, is mostly inter-dealer trading, not real bonafide retail buying.

    Uunocal

Not really, keep in mind that 65% of Chinas oil passes by where the 7th fleet patrols. It is more a sign that China will cooperate with the US. Also, check out the financing - it looks more like a move to have capital flight from China, than a true investment.

    What the heck just happened

Was just watching , all day there were inconsistencies between SPY, YN and ES. So I was out. Bot some ZB and sold out for a few ticks. After last weeks Naz fiasco, now this, it doesnt build faith in the market structure.
