1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

IMO this is just political theater on Germany's part.... at least I hope that's what it is. Even if Germany commits financial suicide and goes it alone - some d*ckhead economist will write a glowing report even if it is an abject failure. Then other govs will use the "d*ckhead report" to...

    Daytrading Outsourced to China

For an interesting tale read up on the Taiwan stock bubble... "Between 1987 and early 1990, the Taiwan stock market index rose from 1,000 to just under 12,500."

Crazy airport security theater affecting travel & economy?

I thought about this one too - but sadly it has a couple of fatal flaws. First problem with this is that currently once you are in the "secure area" of the airport everyone is cleared at the same security level. That's why you glide right through when it is time to board. Because you'd...

IMO better advice is to be extremely careful about what exactly you can be sure about... that's where you'll find the million bucks.

Where is emg with a DOOMSDAY call???? Rashid - yeah the dicks are stealin' the trade tonight. Down 15 handles. Tomorrow they will probably give us some crappy sideways grind action. I don't open trades AH so I'm just watching the waterfall on the 60 min wishing I had held on to half of my...

ammo tends to be a bit early -- which is probably one of the reasons he gravitated to the style of trading he uses. IMO we are just beginning to work through a topping pattern - so he may have to deal with another higher high or two. Next week's jobless claims might be the spark for a...

I woke up this morning to a dead laptop... graphics board not HD thankfully. Picaso - you asked for a repost of the options graph.. no can do until my new system is set up and I can get to my old HD. Looks like I didn't miss much today. 23 was taken out .....WHAT A SURPRISE :p

The short that developed yesterday was gone in the first few bars of today. Not surprising... there must be a TON of stops above 23 (Dec) and they never let it get a day's trade away from that level. We are now moving in this market's favorite direction... if we get above 23 it could be...

You might be right brother... I've been anticipating a turn here but it's still a little early to call it for my taste. If market sells hard there will be a CRAZY run on gold as people pull their money out of equities and need a place to put it. Gold hasn't even started bubbling yet.

We agree. Like minded people with similar interests are likely to behave similarly... no conspiracy meeting required. I also think self-fulfilling prophecies abound in the markets... especially now with every guy and his dog overfitting past data and then doing algo BS with it. RE...

Pek - regarding t-days... notice how the market sold on heavy volume but is stubbornly staying GREEN (i.e. looking to close at or above yesterday's close). IMO t-day is more about painting the tape so the talking heads can say "stocks closed higher" all the time (like at least twice a week).

Hey emg - I'm assuming you are a purely technical trader... how do you model the market to make your trading decisions? Just wondering what your general approach employs... basic PA, cycles, patterns, S/R, stats, volume, inter-market, etc.
