reviving an old thread... >>> just shorted today at 93.25. >>> stop around 93.70 area with limit around 92.30 area. >>> this trade is based off daily chart. i believe there may be at least one breath of a down move left. >>> this trade is not for the feint of heart since it is against...

    New to Forex

hi there, i came from an equity trading background (9 years) and started trading FX a little over 4 years ago. my biggest advice would be demo trade at first to get used to how FX moves. if you use technical analysis primarily then get used to tweaking your approach so that it fits this...

    GBP/USD trading

i like the play on the range on the daily. had entry order to buy @ 1.9450 today but unfortunately it never hit. the ideal target i would have aimed for is 1.9740...so for those of you who are already long you might encounter friction as it approaches that level. i guess better luck...

    Daily EUR/USD trades

closed at 1.3136 at market. the price action no longer makes sense on a daily and upward momentum seemed dead at this point...for now. i'm taking my money off the table for this one while i still can.

    Gbp/jpy

limited out at 235.60. there could be more upside potential but in as far as my my swing trading approach goes i've met my target and i'm out. now i'm waiting for another setup to go long or short if a bearish reversal pattern emerges.

    Daily EUR/USD trades

still holding onto my long position from last week...gunning for my limit at 1.3190. daily's looking shaky so i'm ready to pull the trigger and get out sooner if need be.

    Daily EUR/USD trades

the question regarding holding a position overnight... generally speaking, because i only hold onto a trade on average a few days i don't necessarily consider the overnight interest in my equation. because the typical trade i make identifies profit targets of 50 PIPs or more, the interest...

    Daily EUR/USD trades

there is a fairly good variety of different approaches that one could apply to trading fx. swing trading, daytrading (scalping) and even longer-term trades for the carry all work. you just have to go with the approach that best meets your personality. personally, i swing trade holding...

    Daily EUR/USD trades

hahaha...sorry for the delayed post... the price hit while i was sleeping which is why i had an entry order out there to get me long. i wasn't able to post until i got in front of my computer. :-)

    Daily EUR/USD trades

my entry order filled @ 1.2970, long sticking to the stop and target areas i posted yesterday. if it technically breaks down before then, then i'll take myself out based on discretionary rules i have.

    Banks - Foreign currency

i believe the answer to the most recent post is that in theory a bank could deal with smaller deal sizes...the question is do they believe it's worth their time? banks have geared themselves to deal on an institutional/commercial level. it's a completely different ballgame to provide market...

    Daily EUR/USD trades

i agree with SwingOut...technicals going to be a bit more challenging this week... but with that said, this is what i'm waiting for on a daily and 4-hour chart: -waiting for price to stabilize roughly around 1.2950 (give or take) before going long -possibly risk up to anywhere just below...

    Daily EUR/USD trades

ahead of the G7 it's not so clear... based on a daily chart i'd say there is an upside bias but because there's no way to know how the G7 meeting will pan out...the technicals are up in the air. i'm flat EURUSD until after the weekend. but for those that are long there is underlying...

Biggest differences trading stocks vs forex?

i guess how time intensive FX trading will be will depend on how you approach it. i analyze nothing smaller than daily charts to eliminate the need to care about what happens during my "overnight" period. i'm looking for the moves that take days to work out one way or another. i think it's...

Biggest differences trading stocks vs forex?

hi, i'm new to the forum but not to trading. i have 9 years under my belt with equities/options, 4 of which have been in FX so i hope you find this useful... here are big differences as it relates to FX: -24-hr contiguous market -immense size -generous leverage -technical analysis...

Dbfx Is Fxcm ,and They Will Rather Lie About It ..

interesting link...in truth, most market makers have some type of working relationship with banks in order to accomodate the market making process. so it wouldn't be unusual to see some kind of link between market makers and banks. i wouldn't be surprised that FXCM had this kind of connection...

Currenex, HotSpotFxi, Lava - Pimps for the Banks? - No Scalpers

thanks Nick, point taken. now i know what this thread's focus is. sorry for my misplaced post...i'm very new to this forum so i'm still trying to get a handle on the vibe of certain threads without necessarily ready all the pages...hahaha (some are quite long). if it helps any, i guess i can...

Currenex, HotSpotFxi, Lava - Pimps for the Banks? - No Scalpers

sorry if my comments weren't entirely clear. let me clarify...a "serious" trader (one who studies/treats trading as a business...drawing on my equity prop trading days) should consider only the most well-capitalized firms. i have a couple of accounts with firms that fit this bill (FXCM and...
