Matrox g450 and AMD XP Processor

Whenever I read about such problems with AMD processors I feel so much confirmed in my decision to stay with Intel processors and Intel chipsets. For me its hard to believe that people who rely on their computers to trade with thousands of dollars each day choose an AMD board/processor, in most...

    The infamous "Blackbox" Theory

Okay, now I understand. I always see ATS as the whole system - (hardware), software, programmed rules, signal execution, connection to the exchange or retail broker, etc. :)

    The infamous "Blackbox" Theory

Thats basically true. The point is that an ATS allows you to trade in a way that you can't do without an ATS because it eliminates the human in front of the computer - thats the next step in evolution coming from a mechanical system which needs a human to enter the trades in a computer. You...

    The infamous "Blackbox" Theory

Why do you disagree? Basically you same the same as I do that there is no finished ATS out there to buy. Of course you can use any software you like at a basis but then you have to develop the rest by yourself.

    The infamous "Blackbox" Theory

Such a program is called 'ATS' - an automated trading system. And yes they exist and no you can't buy one, because nobody who has developed a running ATS would sell it at a price you can afford. So if you want to have an ATS you need to make your own.

Suggest a cool tagline for Elite Trader.

Some years ago I was in DeLand, FL for skydiving and they had a nice slogan: "DeLand - where people become skydivers and skydivers become professionals". So why not use this for EliteTrader? EliteTrader.com - where people become traders and traders become professionals I have just checked...

Dual Wan (cable & dsl) solutions

Most of the SMC routers have that feature. I have the SMC7004ABR (Barricade) at home. If DSL is not available it dials via 56k or ISDN, but I haven't tested it so far.

    Building a new tower ???

Not a good idea IMHO - maybe on your backup computer, but never on your tradingstation. You should have one dedicated computer only for trading and nothing else.

    Building a new tower ???

Unfortunately I can't tell you which reasonably priced computer you should buy. I live in Europe so the the market situation is not exactly the same as in the US. There are good responses from others here in this thread so you might get an idea from that. However, I believe the common...

    Building a new tower ???

Macs are fine machines and you can do a lot of tasks in a very elegant way with them. For trading they are not appropriate. You can't use most datafeeds, trading/charting/analysing software on a mac. Even with Java you are still very limited and I think IB's TWS (which is newly available for...

How much do you actually make daytrading?

Thank you all for your replies! My biggest concern against swing trading is that I would have to use TA (right?) and the risk. I understand that the risk can be minimized, but even then it would be probably much more than what I now have to accept. The questions is of course, if I could...

How much do you actually make daytrading?

Can you tell me more about your experience regarding this? I have never done swing trading. I was a buy and hold investor and then changed to daytrading last summer. I had some losses and now I break even, mainly because I understood how important it is to cut losses soon. Ideally my losses are...

Have you ever been threatened by Interactive Brokers ? Yes, we did

I am from Europe too (thank god not from France) and I think that this guy is a shame for the whole european continent. I really hope that you don't think that his views are common here - he is just an insane loser.

    Waxie

I never saw his advertisement, but I just found Michael Parness' book at Amazon: "After losing most of his savings by following a stockbroker's advice, Parness opened an online trading account in January 1999 and turned $33,000 into several million dollars in less than a year. He now owns the...
