Richard McCall's Trader Wargames and MasterQQQuest Seminars

From what I read on the usenet his trading courses are recommendable, but his craps course seems to be crap... However, buy his book first! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0786311630/qid=1041196711/sr=8-4/ref=sr_8_4/103-6884328-4044643?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

    Esignal and LiveRep Support

I used the LiveRep feature some weeks ago. Got satisfying answers on 2 or 3 questions, but an evasive answer on my last question. So I repeated the question and the guy on the other side closed the connection instantly...

    dumb mistakes

I was long a stock and had to leave my computer for a while so I wanted to enter a protective stop loss with sufficient distance to the current price, but by mistake selected LMT as the order type. That order was filled instantly by a happy guy on the other side...

IB's margin formula for covered calls

Yes, thats what I would expect since they always evaluate when you buy or sell something and if necessary they reject your order and a nice message pops up. I always thought that if I sell covered calls then I don't need to worry about margin calls and things like that.

IB's margin formula for covered calls

I already have the shares in my account. So why is such a formula necessary? Why will my position be liquidated if the stock price rises too much above the strike price?

IB's margin formula for covered calls

Is this a standard formula, used by other brokers too? Margin Requirement = Stock maintenance margin requirements + 100% of in the money option value What I do not understand is this: If I buy shares from cash (not on margin) and later sell a (covered) call on this stock and the stock price...

    3D charting?

Maybe to display relative price changes on Y, time on X, and different stocks e.g. within a sector on Z? By the way on http://www.smartmoney.com/maps/ they offer market maps. Not really 3D charting, but interesting. Is anyone using this?

Winning 20% yearly on a covered call portfolio

Yes, do the Math: $1 + $1 = $2 IMHO the point is not to switch from covered calls to naked puts to save one Dollar, but to choose a low priced broker. I do not want to disavow that there are reasons for selling naked puts, but for stategies like Mispe's the commissions are certainly no...

    Renting a Supercomputer

I just surfed the web and found an article I would like to share with people interested in Java programming and parallel computing. It gives you the possibility to build your own cluster and you even don't need to switch to Linux, because you can run the system on every OS where Java can run on...

    Renting a Supercomputer

Yes thats what I mean. T1 line and tick by tick data for ALL stocks and options and then analyse it on a small cluster (3-5 computers). Could this system be fast enough to give me the results in a timeframe of tens of seconds?

    Renting a Supercomputer

As I understand clusters are great for batch program number-crunching. Are they also great for realtime calculations, e.g. analysing the financial markets or would the latency be a problem here? I mean a 'do-it-yourself-at home-cluster', based on Pentium computers, linux , and ethernet.

    Renting a Supercomputer

I had developed a system for sports wagers earlier this year which gave me about 35% weekly increment. It was like printing money. I did about one hundred bets a week for about one month then they changed something in their system and the odds became so bad that I was constantly losing money.

    Renting a Supercomputer
