    It's bear season 12838

There will but not until the Fed has completely destroyed the USD. We have a ways to go before that happens. Gidde up stocks!

It's a necessary evil SCI. Tuff on the eyes sometimes but it's really great to see if you think about it.

    Equity Index Future strategies

Study statistics. Assuming you have a working knowledge of statistics...., stock market data is not normal, it is skewed but there are periods of normalcy within a skewed data set. If you can isolate those periods and identify the times when the data is in the tails you can develop a 90 or 95%...

    Stock Trad3r INDEX

Technically speaking, when adjusted for risk your portofolio probably doesn't outperform the market. I don't really subscribe to this philosophy (b/c I trade futures, which is the riskiest trading out there) but most on the investing community does. If/when the trend reverses, and assuming...

is next week 'mon-wed' considered a "non-trading" week for eminis?

Stay true to your plan of attack, don't get out of trades early because you're scared ---------------->>>>> EXACTLY!

    Starbucks earnings

I bought the stock a couple days ago, fwiw. I have a long-term holding period on this -- many years. It's in the IRA.

Do you view your time-frame to trade emini's as a WAR!

No doubt trading isn't like seeing shrapnel flying by your head but I guess you do what you do to get your psychological edge. I really find trading to be like a boxing match, or another type of battle. You hit with little jabs and wear your opponent down until you see an opening and then you...

Do you view your time-frame to trade emini's as a WAR!

that could very well be...I trade the ES and I see it as a battle but I scalp so I guess it depends on your style. It's definitely better to ride the bigger waves on the NQ/ER, imo. My strategy doesn't work as well on those contracts.

Do you view your time-frame to trade emini's as a WAR!

Good thread, great thoughts traders. Now why can't we get more of this on ET instead of the "look at how big I am" crap.

OH, this is great! Thanks for sharing.

Do you view your time-frame to trade emini's as a WAR!

This is exactly how I see it. Each day, each trade, each analysis is a battle. Read, "The Art of War" and apply it to trading and you'll become a much better trading. Don't fight unless the odds of winning are in your favor. Retreat with your troop intact and live to fight another day...

    range trading

One of the things I look for in a range bound market is areas where the stops are, which is slightly above/below recent highs/lows. When that supply or demand has been removed the market can move in the opposite direction more freely - i.e. if sellers have stopped out they no long exist to sell...

IB margin policy is too conservative, agree?

Agree. Global is still at $500 per ES contract. No need to trade fut's thru IB.

Good Luck BB. The only thing that stands between you and success is that organ between your ears. If you haven't already, read Douglas over and over and over. Trading in the Zone sits on my trading desk all the time.

    Internships Summer 2008

Quick thought....if you want to land a job at a trading firm you have to do something that makes you stand out. I replied to a trader job a few years ago, not with a resume, not with a cover letter, but with an article I wrote on a trading system. As it turns out, the trading system wasn't...

    Internships Summer 2008

No, you're not screwed. I didn't go to a top school so I couldn't get a job in this field. That kinda pissed me off so I worked my tail off and figured I'd learn the business on my own. Develop a system that fits your personality and choose something other than breakouts. EVERYONE trades...

Why is stock_trad3r so good at

The best traders I know are very humble. They don't have narcissistic personalities or seek out the admiration of others by posting threads about how good they are.
