How to tell an option is overvalue or not in TOS?

Charlatanism. With IV and HV you can tell if an option is cheap or expensive... or very expensive. But overvaluation assume that you know the future. It is trading the volatility and it's not an easy thing. Plot the VIX for 20 years and you will see that a distance from a moving average (hist...

From Developer to Trader within a bank

Sir, besides money, what makes you want to be a trader? You'd better have a good answer cuz that is the numero uno thing that they are going to ask. If you are clueless about trading and just apply, lol. You got to show that you know something and that you learned it on the side as a pastime...

    Opening Orders - 2009

I did not trade OPGs long enough to tell if it's better or worse, or if it's dead! I dont quit because I dont make money, I have better opportunities/priorities with my time. Lately it was kind of hard but I was still profitable. The month I was on red was because of two days where I had...

    Opening Orders - 2009

August monthly recap. Traded 5 days. 26 fills, 5 longs, 21 shorts, 19 winners, 3 losers, +0.12 average. Mostly all on the expiration. Close to a decent month even with only 5 days! I am now officially out of here. Stopped trading the OPG cuz I got other projects going on. Good luck everyone...

Is it legal to hedge in another account?

If you are hedging for tax avoidance, it's illegal. Suppose you have an unrealised win and hedge to lock in the profit but avoid paying the taxes in that year Uncle Sam wont like it.

Is it legal to hedge in another account?

I used to have 5 accounts for that purpose. Now with the FIFO I dont know but I think it's ok. I makes sense practically and inside our head. It also controls the margin calls; when one strategy blows, they dont get all out or screw all your positions.

Look for a thing called the risk of ruin. The 2% is in fact an average for most traders but it is different for everyone.

    Puts as hedge against bankrupcy

Suppose DELL want's to hedge it's supplier Intel. If Intel goes down DELL may get into serious trouble (not a very good example). So DELL is going to buy insurance on the unlikely event that Intel goes down. The can buy OTM puts. Buying CDS would probably be a more cost efficient way to do it...

    Pair Trading Strategy Journal

I guess it depends on the lookback period you are using. If you take 30 days and you want to trade stocks that are diverging in the last 10 days chances are that the correl wont be high! I would more rely on the historical rolling correlation and the other indicators then. But there is a...
