    ES Journal - 2015

A gap is just a visual representation of an area where no trading took place in prior session(s), there is no science behind it (or any other areas of TA for that matter), its a gap if its visible on your chart (could be 1m, 5m or the daily). I don't look for gaps on lower time frames.

This is only a big gap day if you are basing it on lower time frames, we opened within 3 pts of 2/4's lows on the daily, thats hardly a "big" gap. "slow" anything is bad in my books, the best days for day trading are always the ones with multiple 10+ pt swings, lots of opportunities to make...

    What defines an "Edge".

Yea that was the whole point of my post actually.

    What defines an "Edge".

But for how long? You realise that they need to be able to do this consistently over several years in order for you to eliminate the element of luck?

    What defines an "Edge".

For sure there are true edges that allow traders to profit from market inefficiencies, but there are not likely to have anything to do with being able to predict the markets' direction, they are also not likely to be permanent.

Its quiet because very few traders are trading this now, ES volatility is down huge again (like it is 90% of the time these days). "The desire for constant action irrespective of underlying conditions is responsible for many losses in Wall Street even among the professionals, who feel that they...

Are you a successful at home day trader with no other source of income who began with modest means?

Dude learn to fucking read. He didnt say that bots destroyed him, he said bots (and other developments in the market) changed trading, its still possible to make money now, its just not as lucrative or easy anymore. Trading, like any other business, will only get more difficult as "loopholes"...

"Marketsurfer is correct: There is no Trends!" --- There are only Turns!

This is the reason why I don't post much on ET. Idiots here can't handle the truth.

"Marketsurfer is correct: There is no Trends!" --- There are only Turns!

50% would lose money if there were no spreads, slippages, commissions. Frictional costs add up quickly, much like the house edge at the casino, even a 1% edge can destroy a gambler if he gambles long enough.

"Marketsurfer is correct: There is no Trends!" --- There are only Turns!

This is pretty lame. "Turns" are by definition the end of an existing trend, so there can't be turns if there no trends to begin with. Trends exist for sure, but you only know that in hindsight. Its impossible to predict when a trend will begin, its also impossible to predict when an existing...

And energy continues to lead, looks kinda hilarious to me since the crude oil market is so much smaller than the stock market.

Looks like another failed rally today, this is the first failed V reversal in over a year. Could the top be finally in and its time to look to sell the rips instead of buy the dips?

    Is day trading worth it?

Yea I noticed that CL has pretty good range recently, but I can never figure that one out. Kudos to anyone who can trade that one profitably with any consistency though.

    Is day trading worth it?

Last 3 months? Try being profitable for at least 3 years (which still means nothing) before you conclude that volatility doesn't matter.

    Is day trading worth it?

The answer to that is range. The intraday range is always smaller than the daily/weekly range so daytraders are always forced to work with less range, this is almost always a bad thing because the spreads and comms are a bigger % of your gains/losses when you are dealing with small trading...
