    Interactive bokers is DOWN

Could not trade QM this morning. TWS has just gone to hell. All kinds of problems not getting fixed. I have pretty much wound down my trading through them due to the problems. As the last poster said it has become impossible. Market order delays, lose market depth, bad ticks, bad quotes...

    Billing for cancelled trial-DTNiq

You have tried the nice private amicable way and it seems it has not worked. With brokers and data vendors you have to complain loudly on web boards otherwise they will just ignore you. Forward the web page to someone senior. Be completely honest and sure of your case though as it is very...

IB liquidity providers will screw you

Banks can and do pull their quotes. Quite often the orders that are there to be hit when spreads widen are limit orders left by e.g corporate treasurers not MM quotes. They also quote on a "your risk" basis to clients in a fast market. They also pull their phone jacks out on serious days. One...

IB liquidity providers will screw you

Ok I've seen that happen but when I looked at the tick trail left in button trader it was clear in my particular case (maybe not yours) that the quotes had been moved/cancelled in multi pip leaps - basically what bank dealers do in a fast market. In fairness the quotes are generally very stable...

IB liquidity providers will screw you

I've had no problems with executions on this product.

Taking Profits & Letting it ride...

Take partial profits. ( not being a wise ass, it's the only way I know unless it is a really obvious trend or range day). Same for all of us, if you let your profits run they evaporate, if you take profits the market breaks and keeps going.

Price premium for Hot Spot FX data in addition to Barclays and Tullet feeds?

What are the issues with IQ feed? Curious as I was looking at them as a possibility.

    OPEC meeting this Wednesday

Techguy, Try Eurusdtrader.com see if he has covered the ground before. No affiliation/recommendation, just noticed that seems to be what he does.

Frequency of discussing wins/losses with spouse/partner

Women just dont buy it that huge fortunes can be amassed by speculating in financial markets. They are too smart.

    Candle patterns filtering

It seems to me if you blend candlestick patterns into one you come up with the same basic patterns - indicating either volatility compressing or that heavy buying/selling came in. That's what I use them for and for their superior visuality. I don't trade off the pattern per se.

    IBcharts.com app alerts

I agree, it's very useful - especially being able to set different .wav files for different stocks/alets, but it is so useful for stocks I am using it for non TWS feed and it can only take data from one feed at a time. Need block alert for TWS HSI futs.

    IBcharts.com app alerts

Anyone using this app and able to get the alert function to trigger? One thing I cannot get to work is the audio (.wav, or for that matter any) alert when a block of a certain size trades (e.g 100 lot) - as far as I can tell everything is set up correctly but it never triggers. I assume 'vol'...

IB Backfill -- Do you want it for tick charts too?

Will tick data make market profile and other volume profiling do-able? Just a thought

goog - a bloodbath in the making

One question: When does the insider lock up end? (Assuming it hasn't been worked around).

IB Backfill -- Do you want it for tick charts too?

Larry you have a point, but as someone has said maybe the data could be on a different server.

IB Backfill -- Do you want it for tick charts too?

Presumably tick data is required for 'number of trades' to be recorded? Something to bear in mind even if you don't use tick charts (I do)

When to throw in the towel as a trader?

Thing to remember is that it's not always us, sometimes it's the markets. We can be off our game in a good market but one of the first things I do is check places like here to see what others are saying about market conditions - saves unnecessary soul searching. I think of Livermore's points...

Only investing during major crashes/bear markets

Was in Thailand pre and post crisis - You have described the stages pretty well, but calling the bottom is not easy Nobody thought Thailand would go to 207. WRT to valuations, what's cheap? Is a market that was at 3x book cheap at 1x? If it goes to half, which Thailand did then you have lost...

    IB new forex spreads

Steve can you do something about bad ticks in all products (except IDEALPRO!) form shut down and again at restart. Also I frequently find that TS2000 fed via IB loses the connection during shutdown/restart - a recent problem - These problems seem to have come about with the change in shutdown...
