Economis benefits of Imperialism and colonization

Why are you singling out Africa as a continent that need colonization. More than half the countries in Africa have a higher per capita GDP than the South American countries of Bolivia and Venezuela, and Nicaragua and Honduras in Central America. In fact, there are 9 African countries (Algeria...

Economis benefits of Imperialism and colonization

First of all, while there are several truly depressed countries in Africa, one has to acknowledge that there are quite a few such as Botswana, Ghana and Equatorial Guinea that are doing quite well. Second, Ethiopia, which you showcase as an African country that is doing extremely poorly, is not...

Economis benefits of Imperialism and colonization

I know of at least one - Fiji. They requested Britain to colonize them, because they were afraid that the USA would colonize them right after the USA took over Hawaii.

Do all (Upgrades/Downgrades/PT changes) are published in EXT hours?

I thing I regularly observe is that analyst firms that release up/downgrades are regularly trading in the stocks the night before the up/downgrade is released. You can observe this with the very unusual price/volume action in those stocks the night before.

Yes these notice are usually released outside Regular Trading Hours. Occasionally, there is a screwup and a company will accidentally release the notice during RTH.

Can you give me some CEFs/ETFs/ETNs that you think are good or interesting?

I get asked this question a lot by friends/relatives. For those who are risk-averse, especially retirees or near retirement, I usually recommend SDY (SPDR S&P Dividend ETF). Decent yield (usually around 3.5%), medium chance of capital appreciation, but price never falls too far even when the...

How long can you safely hold 3x leveraged etf?

    1) I see no problem with day traders using 3X, or inverse 3X. I have used them dozens of times myself, but have never held for more than a day. My algos are programmed to treat them as if I bought, or sold, 3X the underlying. Sometimes it is easier to get fills on the 3X ETFs that the 1X ETFs...

How long can you safely hold 3x leveraged etf?

After 2 postings you still don't understand the point I am trying to make - that long term, nx leveraged ETFs of volatile indexes will always underperform by more than nx the underlying index. I simply chose $100 to make the example math easier. I urge you to read the following article that...

How long can you safely hold 3x leveraged etf?

I understand what you are saying, but go back to my example where the underlying goes down 5% one day, then up 5% the next. At then end, $100 in the underlying is down 0.25% to $99.75; but the 3x is down 2.25% to $97.75; That's not 3x, that's a 9x decrease. If you vary the daily percentage...

How long can you safely hold 3x leveraged etf?

Nope the 3x ETFs do not perform like every other ETF. Their value decays much more rapidly if the underlying index is very volatile. For example, if the underlying index goes down 5% one day, then increases 5% the next, $100 in the 1x ETF would be worth $100 x 0.95 x 1.05 = $99.75; the 3x ETF...

Wyre Announces Withdrawal Limits as Crypto Firm Navigates Crypto Winter

That's not my understanding. All banks limit the amount of cash you can withdraw on any given day, simply because they don't not keep a massive amount of cash on hand. But you are free to withdraw any amount on any day via cashier's check, bank wire or ACH.

Bitcoin a National Threat or Opportunity?

I can't see the USA, or any other major country, adopting bitcoin as their official currency. First that would limit their ability to print as much money as they want. Second why would the USA adopt bitcoin when they can simply issue their own digital currency? The USA wouldn't have to pay for...
