how can you start your trading

Your best bet, if you really want to learn is to find a mentor who will hold your hand through the learning curve process. Otherwise, no one is really gonna give you a detailed hand book for free. There are firms out there that offer this type of training. PM me for more info.

    Markets meandering

This is very true!!! One more holiday to go this weekend. Plus the main earnings pre-announcement season is coming up, and earnings themselves are coming soon, one month. That should liven up the action for us. Otherwise, just keep staring at those walls, so you prevent yourself from blowing...

    Markets meandering

We're all falling sleep. The market itself is moving, but I think just a few stocks are creating the volatility, all the rest, are like watching 4 walls of paint dry.

    Markets meandering

September usually does pick up from August, but this time there is still alot of uncertainty. Terrorists, 9/11, what to do with Iraq, economy, earnings, and etc... No one is willing to committ in either direction right now. Most of the buying and selling was done in the summer. The market...

    Prop and LLC yellow pages

You can't really come up with a list to compare firms based on commissions. Most prop firms don't have a standard deal. They usually customize the deal to each individual trader, depending on experience, volume, capital, and etc... What we should do, and I've setup a forum for this, is get...

    Commission Analysis

What I'd like to do is come up with an analysis of what traders pay. I will calc all the numbers, and give everyone the average commissions currently being paid by traders for each category. I will break the categories up by volume and bullets, and maybe more if I get alot of data. This way...

    How to bypass the broker?

It would be too expensive. You would need to setup up a server, rent the T-1 lines, pay the exchange fee's, I believe you'd have to rent or buy a seat, and you may have to become a broker dealer, which would really kill you with upfront costs, and then the regulatory requirements. You're...

    Merger Help

If they're in merger talks, there's no such list. Merger talks are secret. If you're looking for a list of stocks that are rumored to be in merger talks or have announced mergers, then search news stories on various websites or on a Bloomberg.

Will Amex trading OTC be good?

I don't think you're right about this. Check with your BD or clearing firm. AMEX does have a direct plus system. It might not be active for NASDAQ stocks. The rules of their system is almost the same as the NYSE NX, every 30 seconds.

    trading and betting sports

The only place that I have been able to apply any trading techniques to gambling is in black jack. In black jack you lose with the lowest bet, and when you go on a winning streak, you bet bigger. Same as stocks, control your losses, and let you winners run. But as the winner runs, you add...

NYSE Trading -- Is this legal?

Old Traders never die, they're just broke bad traders with bad opinions!!!! Just kidding oldtimer, just playing along. I think you're points were valid for other situations.

NYSE Trading -- Is this legal?

Think about it, if NYSE operations are obsolete, then why is the NASDAQ moving more of there stocks to the AMEX specialist? Electronic trading is here to stay, but the number of market makers, will decrease over time. The specialist tend to control the stockalot better then a random collection...

    low trading volume continues

Every one should have there own ability to use NX. Can you imagine how many trades you would miss if, someone at your firm used NX, and you tried to use it, and kept misssing trades cause it went in as a limit order, cause only one person, can use NX in teh firm every 30 seconds. If you're...

NYSE Trading -- Is this legal?

The reason your order won't cancel, cause after the fill below your bid, you're now most likely the best bid, and the specialist already has decided to fill you shares somewhere in between your bid price and the last trade. So you'll get you price or better. Again in this situation, there was...

NYSE Trading -- Is this legal?

I'm assuming that your offering at 80.34? If your offer is in while he's rounding up the shares for the buyer, then yes you will get it. If your offer was in after he already got enough shares for the buyer, and the next trade after 80.4 was 80.25 and lower, then no, you're not entitled to the...
