    Execution Speed

there are two elements to consider - first is how fast the broker gets the data to you - if the data is a few hundred milliseconds slow, or lags during fast market, then the decision your system makes to execute is going to be slow too. Then there is the issue of order latency. Remember...

Is the Bund one of the most difficult contracts to trade?

you can say that. any kind of trading is risky, but by definition futures spreading is somewhat lower risk that plain old directional outrights since you are hedged both long and short at the same time in two very tightly correlated instruments - and it IS a legitimate way to make a good living...

Is the Bund one of the most difficult contracts to trade?

Mostly yeah, the flipper does his flips across the bund and the bobl (and sometimes the shatz, or all three at once) most spreaders are looking to take 1 tick from either or both of the spread legs - traders (and I am certain its not one guy) who flip are deliberately trying to get spreaders...

    Arbitrage Software

TT is pretty much the pro industry standard for calendar arbitrage, and TT autospreader for inter-market spread arbing. There are other similar products by Ecco and Easyscreen that do basically the same thing, and also Aquarius which IMO is the best price discovery engine out there.

    Tradestation Automated trading for real?

I was using TradeStation full auto with a ten contract clip size when they first introduced automated trading a few years back, and used scale out functions. Basically, if you can code it in easylanguage, you can get TS to pretty much what you want. I dont use it any more as I switched to...

Is the Bund one of the most difficult contracts to trade?

you're talking about spoofing/flipping. It only really affects people who trade the book, ie: bund/bobl spread traders. If you trade off a chart directionally, whether somone shows some size on the bid and pulls it or flips it to the ask shouldnt really affect you at all.

Increasing my trade size on ES

10 lots is pretty insignificant in the ES volume scheme of things. are you talking about limit orders or market orders? I'd bet you could safely sink 500-1000+ lots with no slippage during a normal morning session if you are paying up the spread.

    exchange latency

At Refco Trading Services we had confirmed fill latency of <25ms on LIFFE futures. That was with an exchange gateway on our LAN, so the only process in series before our order was onto a clear exchangeside line would be the order being assessed locally against risk parameters for clearing...
