    Cray Supercomputer?

Actually the thread wasn't a joke, but some of the posters thought it was. I was bascially trying to find out if large Hedge Funds run their algorithms on these type of computers? The Cray Supercomputer is used to model and predict global climates and weather patterns into the future...

    Windows XP Pro Genuine Verification

I had the same problem. You try to update Windows XP and it sends you to their Windows Genuine Windows Validation tool. I tried to update mine, but no luck. I eventually had to go out and buy a working copy.

installed memory recognized in bios but not in win xp pro

I would assume that you're getting the full 4GB of RAM. There is no real way to tell though. I doubt mb manufacturers would make a mb with the capability of 4GB of RAM if you couldn't use it. You could probably check with some mb manufacturers to see if they have a way to check the physical...

installed memory recognized in bios but not in win xp pro

I know on some machines that when you install up to 4GB of Ram, the computer will only show 3GB. I bought a motherboard awhile back and it says in the operating manual that the computer will only show 3GB instead of the 4GB.

Seems to be alot of ex/current Engineers in trading

Ripley, you put your finger right on it. Engineers are tired of getting laid off for work being sourced overseas. Its hard enough spending 4-5 years in engineering school to only come out and maybe make $50k/yr. Engineering is the most taken advantage of profession in my opinion. I...

    Losing more than you invested

You're right. I just checked FXCM's website and they are allowing investors/traders to fund their account with a credit card. I still don't think they can withdraw money from your credit card without your approval. Its probably best not too fund your account with a credit card anyway. Its...

    Losing more than you invested

I don't know of any broker who will allow you to fund your account with a credit card. You could send them a check from the bank who issues you your credit card, but that check doesn't have your credit card info on it so there is no way they could deduct any money from your credit card account...

    Losing more than you invested

This 50 pip stop loss that I'm speaking of really only applies to swing trading and If you can't be by the computer to watch your position all the time. If you're jumping into a position after a fundamental announcement then yes you don't really need a stop at all because your just riding...

    Losing more than you invested

right... There would be no way you could lose more than you invest since how would they get the money from you? You would have to send them a check or the broker would have to directly debit it out of your checking or savings account, and I've never given out any bank account info to any...

    Losing more than you invested

You won't be able to lose more than you invested. If you drop below your Margin requirement the broker will automatically close your position. I've only used FXCM, but am not very happy with them, so I can't really comment on other brokers. Hope this helps.

Anybody have this happen with FXCM?!

A hard stop could be avoided if someone was able to sit there and stare at the computer all day and watch the action. Unfortunately I don't have that luxury right now. It does seem as though you need to put in at least a 50 pip or more stop order or else you will almost always get stopped out.
