HFT robots seeing orders before the exchange ?

No argument with Random.Capital ... I've been prepared for 2 years to die off and be resurrected with a new trading program that doesn't compete with the "enemies" ... just trying to save time and pain for some ET readers. Also, forgot to mention in response to DeeDeeTwo's first post: The...

HFT robots seeing orders before the exchange ?

I'm giving DeeDeeTwo full credit for being highly experienced and fully competent (although you never know...) ... and I'm sure he/she can fully justify the quoted statement from the perspective of the DeeDeeTwo trading program (I can tell my trading program is very different because my average...

Can anyone at IB tell us when native NYSE hidden orders will be supported?

Comment on ARCA hidden orders: Looks like ARCA hidden orders have changed recently - they seem to be working fine now so far as IB is concerned (they were not working at all when I posted ARCA comments above in this thread) ... plus, I notice that the online exchange documentation has changed...

Can anyone at IB tell us when native NYSE hidden orders will be supported?

NYSE hidden order bad behavior alert: I've been working with hidden orders regularly now since August 6 ... until this week, NYSE hidden orders seemed like the "real deal" - out of thousands of hidden orders I never saw ANY evidence that anyone could see them. Then this week I'm noticing...

Can anyone at IB tell us when native NYSE hidden orders will be supported?

That's easy: "nothing" ... normal for non-hidden ISLAND limit orders also (as stated above, I blame the HFTs for dominating overwhelmingly the liquidity in NASDAQ stocks). But as also stated above, it seemed to be even more "nothing" for the hidden orders.

Can anyone at IB tell us when native NYSE hidden orders will be supported?

Thanks for the response IBsoft, sorry to bother you when you're on vacation ... will not expect further responses until you're back. 2. "After the stock opens for trading" ... that's sad because it's indeterminate ... any way we can get the same message IB servers get for when a particular...

Can anyone at IB tell us when native NYSE hidden orders will be supported?

Calling IBsoft ... come in, IBsoft ... Thanks again for getting the hidden orders going ... I was able to try several thousand of these last week and my rating so far is a 3 = "interesting" on a scale of 1-5, where 1 = "useless" and 5 = "exciting" ... I think I will be able to use these...

Interactive Brokers API: How to get Routing Destination?

No, unless I'm misunderstanding you, we're talking about limit orders that have not been executed and may never be executed...

Interactive Brokers API: How to get Routing Destination?

Thanks for the post, braincell, but it sounds like you are talking about routing orders, whereas I'm just talking about finding the routing destination of already-routed orders ... I promise this question is simple, so I must not be making myself clear ... one more time: I've got a bunch...

Interactive Brokers API: How to get Routing Destination?

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear ... I'm talking about getting the routing destination for SMART routed orders that can get routed, and rerouted, anywhere after the order is transmitted.

Interactive Brokers API: How to get Routing Destination?

I don't think there is any way, using the API, to get the routing destination data field for an order working in Trader Workstation (that is, the field with TWS header "Destination"). Can anyone prove me wrong? After using the API for more than 10 years it just recently occurred to me that...

Can anyone at IB tell us when native NYSE hidden orders will be supported?

Very busy trading day today, but I did grab a few minutes to submit some SMART routed orders with the hidden attribute for NYSE stocks, using the same API code that formerly sent these orders straight to ISLAND (where of course they were dead poop). Based on my limited testing, the new routing...

Can anyone at IB tell us when native NYSE hidden orders will be supported?

IBsoft, I appreciate the positive action very much but this is just a toy until it is enabled in the API ... can you give us any ETA for the API support? Also, what about TWS support for the new NYSE RLP order type? I'm not 100% clear on this yet, but it appeared from the SEC filing that...

Can anyone at IB tell us when native NYSE hidden orders will be supported?

By the way ... can I get IBsoft back on this thread to say whether or not the native hidden order capabilities will be supported right away in the API, at the same time they go live on TWS? Ordinarily for any new TWS feature I would figure another year+ for API support, but since the API...

Can anyone at IB tell us when native NYSE hidden orders will be supported?

Agree with sprstpd on the general principle ... but I might add: As most readers here probably know, the time-honored (and until recently very profitable, at least for me) business of being a non-pro retail liquidity provider is being rapidly crushed to death by the HFTs employing (1) a...

Can anyone at IB tell us when native NYSE hidden orders will be supported?

Ok ... I think I'm in love with IBsoft, but I will not actually propose marriage until it happens ... can someone please post to this thread when this is implemented?

Can anyone at IB tell us when native NYSE hidden orders will be supported?

If I'm reading you correctly IBsoft then this sounds like unexpectedly good news ... even though not mentioned previously in this thread, what I and probably most others really want is a "SMART native hidden order" that does the following: Wherever a normal (non-hidden) non-marketable...

Can anyone at IB tell us when native NYSE hidden orders will be supported?

Unfortunately, if you believe the link to ARCA order types posted earlier in this thread, ARCA seems to be the ONLY major exchange that does not have a native hidden order type open to all users ... the documentation says their "Passive Liquidity" order type is available only to "Lead Market...

Can anyone at IB tell us when native NYSE hidden orders will be supported?

Good question ... before I started this thread I assumed ISLAND hidden orders were native NASDAQ hidden orders, and that appears to be the case if you watch the orders go in and check TotalView ... also, all the non-ISLAND hidden SMART-routed orders I tried routed straight to ISLAND and stuck...

Can anyone at IB tell us when native NYSE hidden orders will be supported?

Sigh ... Respectfully, IMHO, new order types at major exchanges are different than random "features": "just do it!" ... support all new order types ASAP after the exchange creates them in response to the latest HFT request. Anyone have any advice for me on brokers that support the NYSE...
