    Gaps on NYSE stocks

NYSE Gaps, interesting thread. Here is what I think: Stock has bad news (Miss the earnings, warned for next year, CEO hit by a bus... whatever the news is, is irrelevant here), here is the specialist will do in the morning (assume he's flat last close-why wouldn't he?): 1st, he sees...

    Only trade volatile stocks

Silk, interesting topic. I have been to both sides (trading ARBA, JNPR, CIEN solely for months, and trading slow stocks like DTHK, and some $5ish stocks as well) here is what I see: 1. Fast stocks: The good news is, they move like you said (I miss SDLI at 300 level, moved 20 to 30 pts...

    Listed Stock Trading

Good thread. Here is what I do: Buying: If I really want in, I use ARCA to "penny up" him on the bid, the whole world will see my order, and if he penny up me, then I cancel and penny up him again.(other people use ISLD which is fine, the difference between them is: ISLD show one entry...

    Shorting will help terrorists--no shorts

Another thought: If we all stop trading, then SEC will close the exchange... isn't that what the terrorists wanted (to destroy the free financial market in the US)? Also, for those guys who will stop trading: How long are you guys gonna wait before resume trading? will it be OK to short...

    Shorting will help terrorists--no shorts

Just a thought: If shorting (airlines, insurances) helps terrorists, isn't LONG (oil etc) hurting our Army, Navy, USAF too?

    What is the Specialist Thinking?

trader58, Good stuff and I just want to add a little: Fletch, if you look at 2 days 1min chart, you would see this: 7/27, DE moved up, so the specialist maybe on the short side (fair enough?), when DE was upgraded by whoever with no fundamental change (earnings/warnings/CEO died) on...

    horizontal trend

100% agree with ya, I wasn't even takin one shot yesterday and bitching about the market in our chat room... the whole naz were ralling, yet I could not find anything I like. RBAK suppose to close the gap, yet it didn't do much, and I wouldn't short it either cuz the MM's and the whole market...

    Trading Pre and the Open

ronb107, If you only trade listed, be aware of the spread/fill there, I am pretty new to NYSE myself and I can tell you, if you get used to NAS, it is hard to trade listed, i.e. it takes a WHILE for the specialist to fill you even you hit the bid trying to get out a falling stock (The rule...

    Trading Pre and the Open

mjt, I used MBTrading, when you short the stock that is fallin like a rock, you have to put a penny above the bid, then hope some jerk will hit you, isld should be your best bet cuz most islanders are green. if you see the bid on top of RT3 MM window lowered and the ask price is below your...

    Trading Pre and the Open

Should you trade the open? Depends on the following: 1. Do you trade naz or listed? 2. Are you good at cut your lost quick? 3. Do you read MM's/Specialist? 4. Do you have nice connection/data feed (I have this problem)? 5. Are you quick on mouse/keyboard (execution skills)? Yeah...

    Freezing!

I have same problem, I think they turned off the "Matching" for about 30 sec. I tried to hit one of the ask on Island (JNPR), no luck at all even there were lots of shares available... anyway, played short on the way down :)
