    Constant Value Investing

Hi, I was thinking of trying this concept on a more volatile stock, like APPL and say on a daily basis, thinking that if the stock moved enough, that I would always be buying lower and selling higher. Well, after plugging in 3 months of data into a excel sheet, it proves to have lost...

ES and EUR:USD moving in sync

Any idea as to why this is?? I mean, two very different markets, seems very strange. And, do you notice if one leads the other??

Whats the next step for a nooob?

This was my thinking as well, but I was not sure if it was flawed or not. I know that the longer that I am in the market, the higher the chance of a move against me. I do have the control to not trade once I have my point, so it was my thinking to try to have a very high win rate, and then use...

Whats the next step for a nooob?

Thanks for the very useful reply. Yes, real money. Then, after I get my point, I use my sim account to see how I handle multiple contracts. Ok, will keep the changes small, or, I will use my sim account to see what effects they will have. Very interesting "ratchet up system", I will look...

Whats the next step for a nooob?

Thanks. My future self, hmmm, yes, rich would be good. However, if I ever get up to 10 cars, I do not consider that dimes, thats real money. As for in front of the train, well, I am more like hanging off the train as it goes. I look for a support or res level, looking to see where price is...

Whats the next step for a nooob?

Hi, Been watching the markets on and off for a few years now, but, only really got serious about trading the ES this past Jan. What I mean by that is I look for the same set up, aim for my target (usually only a point) and get out. Also record all trades in a spread sheet. I made money in...

    My first spread

Yes, the trade was on the Canadian side, on Sept 10th. Was meaning to post sooner about it, but alas, got busy.

    My first spread

Good point. I will monitor the trade and the underlying and possibly look to book profit if any. Just from learning about trading futures, alway have profit targets larger than stop loss, but these are different instruments, so will keep that in mind. Yes, it would. So I guess I need to...

    My first spread

Did my first option Bear Call spread on Royal Bank of Canada stock last week, and want to see if I understand it fully. RY (Royal Bank) is the underlying stock. I am bearish on it, and so used this spread to limit my risk. I sold a call option with a strike price $54 and received a...

How to short U.S Government Bonds?

So, if I am bearish on US government bonds, then I would go long TBT? Just want to make sure. Never dealt with an ultrashort ETF.

How to short U.S Government Bonds?

Marc Faber is saying that the trade for 2009 is to short US government bonds. How would one go about doing this? I know nothing of bonds or the bond market, so....will want to ease into this. Thanks

    Emerging Market Sovereign Debt

How would one go about buying emerging market sovereign debt? I know nothing of this except that there is an EFT called PCY, but want to know if one can hold the countries bonds outright. Thanks

    Problems paper trading at I.B

I have been paper trading the ES as of late, and I have market order delays of up to 30secs. Scary, hope the live account does not have the same issues. Seems to be on their end, as I have not changed a thing on my system, and it used to work fine. I am sure we are not the only ones.

Full service broker will not do options

Thanks for all the opinions. I think it is just that they dont want to bother with options as they do not do much of them. Too bad, as I could have hedged my account some before this sell off. Got an IB account so I will use that to sell cash secured puts until I have all the shares I...

Full service broker will not do options

Hello, Just wanted to try to understand, why my full service broker will not let me sell any puts to try to acquire some stock. The stock itself has gone from $50 to $10, and I wanted to pick up 1000 shares. I wanted to sell 10 puts to get some cash to help lower my cost, but he would not...

Are naked puts really this safe????

Well, for my first option, the sale of a put at $40 gave me $1.68.50. Teck closed at $38, so I got put the shares but really my cost is $38.32, not including commish. But I feel I got lucky, as it went below $35, but happened to rally hard before expiration. Feel I have been "let off" with a...
