Something wrong here. IRA fees are charged at the end of each quarter. If I recall, IRA fees started in the last quarter of 2010 and were initially debited in January 2011.
On the other hand IB has always had a number of charges that apply to all accounts. Those fees...

IB's DOM is called BookTrader. Just do a search in the TWS Help.
If you have been successfully trading using IB's chart and entering orders via the TWS you don't need to worry about the info in this very long thread...

IB issues a Consolidated 1099. It contains five 1099 types:
1099-INT
1099-OID
1099-DIV
1099-MISC
It also contains four 1099-B's. Which is basically what this thread is about. There is a 1099-B for:
Covered Securities - Short-Term
Covered Securities - Long-Term
Covered...

8949 or 1099?
Have you gotten your 8949 worksheet already? They are supposed to be available by the close of business this Thursday, the 1st of March.

I did some experimenting last night. H&R Block@Home (formerly Tax-Cut) can handle at least $15,000,000 in sales. I created a dummy return and input a number of large trades manually. Everything worked fine. So the $ value issue seems resolved in @Home.

I agree. However, a few years ago IB made a change that messed up something in the feed and QT made a fix. If IB makes such a change in the future it is unlikely that QT will be fixed unless whoever developed the patch made available earlier in this thread feels ambitious and...
I stopped by the TD-Ameritrade/Think or Swim exhibit at the New York Trader's Expo. They had a lot of developer types there. I could not get a definitive answer, but based on the number of features they are working on to enhance the capabilities of the TD/TOS platforms, none of them believes...

In an early post I did a cut and paste of some info from the IB web site. The post read:
Due to IRS reporting changes, links to TurboTax® software products are unavailable. We are currently working with them to re-implement this resource.
In the past I've been able to use those...

Jack just reread all his posts in this thread and he uses "8949 Worksheet". In early posts he bolded it. Jack's URL info was for those that wanted to read what the IRS had to say about the subject, rather than us experts here on ET.
Others refer to the Form 8949 as being...

Dig out the 1099-B you got last year. It only showed proceeds. When you filled out the Schedule D (and D-1s) you added the cost basis which IB provided on the worksheet.. The same deal exists today for uncovered issues. The info is on the workshet coming on 1 March. The new...
Bob:
The 8949 worksheet will show both sides. You report as you need to. It is just like the old Schedule D worksheet. IB showed both sides whenever they could. But we adjusted to handle options against equities, etc.
I realize you've been a very happy, indeed thrilled IB customer for...

Take a look at this SEC Bulletin. When defining the "same security" It says:
This definition encompasses any security, including options....
That is pretty broad, so I'd say it would include all options, no matter the strike or date...

I think that IB will be providing the Form 8949 Worksheet to us on or about 1 March.
From the IB web site:
Form 8949 is a new 2011 IRS Form replacing the old Schedule D-1 as detail support for Schedule D. The Form 8949 worksheet shows trade details for all securities...
In 2007 IB was pretty poor in handling the issue. Here is a thread from back then:
http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=105368&highlight=Pay+and+in+and+lieu+and+dividend
I don't know if they ever made any change to try to reduce or eliminate the cost to their...
As I understand he IB feed. They send out the current price (last sale) somewhere in the range of 3 to 10 times per second. (every 330 to 100 milliseconds) Say you are plotting tick data. Let's say IB is sending updates every 330 milliseconds. At time 0 the price is 1254.0 One-third of a...
I believe QT was sold to Ameritrade in 2006, about three years before TD acquired TOS. TD probably wanted two things from the QT purchase:
1) Decent charting capability, 2) the QT paid subscriber list for its new TD customer potential - (and perhaps a third reason - preventing a competing...
If I remember from his posts over the year's, DEF, is in charge of IB's Hong Kong or Far East operations. He defends IB, but he is a straight-shooter. If I'm not mis-interpreting what he said above, he is going to try to get better info to us on what hypothecation and re-hypothecation are...
