    Newbie looking for guidance

LOL! If you have a horrid GPA in finance, why are you even looking to work within the finance industry? I think you need to go back to school and study nursing.

    Newbie looking for guidance

Quality attitude you got there. Be realistic, do you think entering into Investment Banking is some cushy job where you get to sit on your ass and have fun? No, it's a grind. But the experience is valued highly in other fields. As for trading, it's very hard to break in on the...

Fisher: QE not _obviously_ a done deal

Yeah, that data is real credible. Just like the CPI & PPI, which are a clear representation of reality. Look at the prices that matter, such as the core basics. There is obvious inflation.

    Newbie looking for guidance

Oh boy. You got a long way to go, kiddo. Investment Banking is a field completely separate and different from trading. A realistic view of it is long abusive hours, endless work putting together pitchbooks, lack of sleep and likely an asshole MD or VP on top of you. But you will learn A...

Made in USA sneaker (34 bucks) Made in China shoe 60 bucks.

You have to understand that rural China used to be self-sustainable. It no longer is and has not been for 2-3 decades. Why is that? Do you think there would be plentiful dirt cheap labor if rural China was self sustainable? Think about that for a while. Global trends do not just happen on...

Little boy, lose the attitude. Companies like NOKIA, have actually sent out investigators to see how the factories were run in China of the goods that they had contracted to have produced there. It's not happy land, it's much closer to a sweatshop than a good working environment. Most of...

if one can predict market daily movement 55% correctly, how to profit from it ?

You just do not get it. I am not talking about HFT firms, I am talking about standard daytraders, or at least what's left of them. $.001/share for a guy doing only 100,000 shares (which is small) a day is $100. On an annual basis that is over $20,000. It's not small potatoes when talking...

My experiences as a Hedge Fund Startup

I'm actually told it's a FINRA regulation and the number may be 10% although 20% sounds more correct. However, most FOFs institute tighter standards on themselves and 10% is normal.

if one can predict market daily movement 55% correctly, how to profit from it ?

I don't think you really know what you're talking about. $0.001/share is not a small amount if it takes your rate from $0.005 to $0.004. That's a 20% reduction. I mention this example to illustrate a point. You're trying to make what I sense is a valid point but you do not fully understand...

if one can predict market daily movement 55% correctly, how to profit from it ?

Even for "Joe one-lot" commissions & spreads are a factor and costs that should be controlled. Back when scalping stocks was manual, a $0.001/share difference in your commission could be a the difference between a profitable and non-profitable trader.

if one can predict market daily movement 55% correctly, how to profit from it ?

Are you serious? Some of the largest trading strategies depend on controlling the commissions + the spread and keeping them to a minimum. Obviously you are not aware that on the large hedge fund scale this is very important.

    Giving up on day trading?

Wrong! Top reason is due to lack of edge. The trader simply gets bled till he/she does not have the funds to conitnue.

Would you rent an apartment to a trader

In that situation? Only if the wife's income justifies it. The trader husband has no income and that is the bottom line. There really is no reason to discuss this further.

Wall Street II is a Disaster

Stock broker era exploded in the 1980s, which was a way in for hungry young guys, many of which did not even have a college degree. Bud Foxx, up for a point, illustrates that. While Solomon Brothers was famous for hiring guys straight off the street for their bond trading, in general, that was...

I don't watch the news. And my information is not from US media. Maybe you should do some digging. Chinese Factory workers pay for their room & board, meals and any other goods. All of these are required to be bought from the company they work for and docked from their paycheck. Obviously...

It's not as cheap as you think. There are costs that would not show up from domestic manufacturing, such as shipping & Quality Control monitoring. Aside from that, you have to realize that even with the protocols set by the multinationals, the quality is actually less, so part of the "savings"...
