With rules there is nothing to do.

I never use a stop. And never have a target. The market is constantly moving like an ocean. New waves of small medium and large sizes are always knocking your trade around. Usually you can't see these waves until they are close to you. You have to constantly be changing your target based...

I hate holidays when the market is closed

I'm thinking people give thanks because really they are pissed off and have many things to be unthankful for, and they are just trying to cope by finding something to be thankful for. Just a way to keep from going crazy and admitting to themselves just how many gripes they have about their...

Thanks for having me. Could use some advice.

Sounds like you are not afraid to hit the buy buttons. But are undercapitalized. You should get series 7 and find a prop firm to trade at. Sounds like you like to hedge and pair. You need more capital. I was in your boat until i started trading at prop firm and had much more buying power...

This is outrageous to not reopen

Traders need a chance to cover their shorts. We all know they will have these futes ripping by Wed morning. Maybe there will be one second to cover wed morning if we are lucky. But doubtful. If you are short stocks and got excited by futes down this morning. Don't be. They will have shorts...

    Holy grail of daytrading

I'm fear i couldn't identify the slam dunk trades if i wasn't making at least some smaller trades which allows my mind to feel out the market. Perhaps for people like me, an alternate Holy Grail would be to maximize buying power to the 10 slam dunk trades while minimizing buying power for the...

    anybody else hating this mkt?

The indexes barely budge. Then you have many names that are already up 30%+ on year, go up even more on nothing with no ebb or flow to cover a short or position for a long without just blindly paying up for no reason. In hindsite, it was the greatest january effect set up of all time. As...

Dark storm cloud brewing on payout rules

If the payout is reduced from 100% to 80%. Couldn't the loss sharing ratio also be lowered from 100% to 80% and all would be the same more or less from the traders point of view?

    ECHOtrade

Echotrade is really good firm. Good risk manager. great buying power intraday. and just enough overnight that you can still hang yourself. Twice a week payout! Software isn't the best. But not bad enough to really hurt you. Unless you are a second by second trader. If you scale in...

Why can't you scale up and be a billionaire?

It is very hard to day trade over $10-$20 million when trading individual stocks. I find that $4-$6 million is my sweet spot, and even then i find it hard to close out everything at end of day. For example, day trading $20 million would be eight 50,000 share positions in a $50 stock. Try...

Capitalism needs to focus on the greater good

Capitalism can't be changed. It is what it is. Like the laws of physics are what they are. Saying we need to CHANGE capitalism to make it better, is like saying we need to change the laws of gravity to make apples fall further from the tree. It can't be done.

Are any traders profitable for 5+ years?

Yes. But i don't know of too many others. But i don't really know that many traders either. I'm completing my first 10 years of my money up prop trading. I've had 7 profitable years (6 of those 7 figure year) and 3 negative years. 2 of those obscenely negative. My down years came in years...

    Finding the Holy Grail

I was about to post the same thing. The holy grail is knowing that there isn't a holy grail. Nothing works in a vacuum. Everything is in a context of what is hapenning now. Those who focus on a formula don't do well. You have to feel out the market as it is now and trade accordingly. The...

    Sunday night futures

I've never seen the markets move so much on Sunday nights or from 4:15pm-5am during the week, but then not move a lick during United States session. What is going on? Somebody guns Silver and s&ps every sunday night in thin trading. Like never before. This market can move more between...

AMZN kicked out of state of Texas

Interesting Amazon said to owe Texas $269 million in sales taxes. And instead of paying they closing all facilities and planned faciliities there. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/APNewsBreak-Amazon-closing-TX-apf-1138591325.html?x=0&.v=5 Thing is, they can't close facilities in every state...

    $1.5 trillion deficit = 3 million jobs

I think i messed up my math. $1.5 trillion is equal to 30 million jobs at $50,000/year. Not just 3 million!! So just imagine what happens when we are forced to reduce spending by say $500 billion. That would be like laying off 10 million people. Sort of.

    $1.5 trillion deficit = 3 million jobs

the $1.5 trillion annual deficit is enough money to pay 3 million people an annual salary of $50,000/year. Who needs jobs really to keep this economy moving when Obama and Bernanke each have a blank check to work with provided by the markets complacency over soverign debt. IMHO, soverign...

    Cancellation problem with briefing.com

I wouldn't cancel. How else can you get that kind of info for that low of price? Even if you are taking a break from tradng. Even for years. Don't you want that knowledge. Lets say you do some investing trading in 5 or 10 years from now. All that you pay could be made up in one trade.
