crude to join in on crash next week

Would be nice if something positive came from the market turmoil in the form of low crude prices.

Why I think the decline has only just started

Never have I seen the market start off a decline with such volatility. This is a very bad sign. Usually we get the 500 point drop at the end of the decline, not on day one. Often the volatility and magnitude of the breakout at the beginning of a move serves to foreshadow the size of the move...

crude to join in on crash next week

-gasoline finally stopped going up friday. -gold crash sucking life out of crude rally -crude sideways for 5 days around 61.75 after 24% rally -subprime and economy melting down further -XOM 4 month lows -entering shoulder season -economic jitters -other financial markets...

NYSE is broken and could lead to ugly panic

I write this mostly in jest. But the NYSE does seem to have problems and it really could destabilize the markets if it is the mechanics of NYSE Hybrid trading and lack of specialists that is causing volatility to get out of control and people lose faith in an orderly market. That would add an...

NYSE is broken and could lead to ugly panic

The NYSE couldn't handle the selling on Tuesday and that was just a 3% drop. The Hybrid is broken. The specialists don't take positions anymore. One or two Arca programs probably have more capital behind them than do the specialist anymore in some names. (Sidenote, Cramer needs alot of...

XOM dumped a buck in last hour on huge volume

after being up all day and one of the strongest of the oil stocks throughout the day today, XOM fell a buck in the last hour on huge volume 20 million shares (big chunk was closing print). All the while s&p futures were steady to up in last hour. XOM actually appears to have had the heaviest...

    RBC Carlin - Generic

very good and reliable software. Systems don't go down hardly at all. Good for remote. Commissions and leverage not the best. But I would put that secondary to strong reliable software.

    basic materials stocks

Anyone notice that basic materials stocks are the only ones that get to trade above analysts price targets? Market sure loves commodities stocks. Even ones that don't seem to be doing so well go way up. Endless revaluation upward. 2 theories. (1) Hedge funds are in love with...

why do the black boxes turn off at 4pm?

I would think that if they are willing to arb every cent during the day, they would throw out some bids and offers around the closing prices on the ECNs after 4pm. But they don't. Alot of times i don't get out at 4pm and would like to close out some posiitons after 4pm. But there is just no...

    my secret strategy to riches

If ES are ever -2 or more in the morning. Buy. Close out later in the day for a profit at a time of your choosing. Doesn't really matter when. But closer to 4pm the better. And never fear, if you fail to sell by 4pm, they are usually a bit higher between 4:00 and 4:15. Strategy 2...

Oil is going to $70+ per barrel

Oil does what it wants when it wants. I doubt you can predict it well. But I know that oil does not cost too much. If milk cost $10/gallon i would probably drink alot more juice. But i would still buy gasoline at $10/gallon.

B*A*R*R*O*N*S GAME Long - Short Edition.....

Barrons seems dumb. They put COP on the cover right after a 35% 3 month runup last month and called it the cheapest large cap on planet. It of course then falls 15% in a few weeks. Made for a nice short fell at $74.80 though :p I canceled my subscription in 2003 after they wrote a...

Trading ES in a prop firm?

ES have to be one of the most untradeable markets out there. And anybody good enough to make money in them, could probably make 10 times the money with a more diversified game.

Would I get in trouble for this?

Actually, even if you had the money to buy the shares and your order was executed, it would not alter the stock price for very long. You would just get a bad fill, and then the stock would go back to what it was doing before.

Looking for someone serious about trading

Forget about other people. The way you make it is to watch the markets 24hrs a day and learn all the correlations. After 12-48 months of this it might click inside your head. Or it might not. IMHO. So get 4-6 computer monitors and a good quote service. And fill your screens with as...

What are your goals for 2007?

LOL. Maybe you should at least make it a goal to try to make money. Why bother if that is not a goal? You enjoy losing money?

OIH: Isreal Plans Nuclear Strike on Iran

seems like the IRAN hype had more effect when oil was above 200 day avg. With it under the 200 day and in bear market, the political hype hasn't mattered much.

Do you think the Fed will really lower rates this year?

I think we stay at 5.25% for many quarters (a few years). Once the fed is at neutral, it is in the best interest to keep rates the same unless they are really forced to do something. Unemployment would probably need to move toward 4.9 or 5%

    Crude or S&P mini

Does anyone trade s&p mini and make a steady living at it? Seems like oil would be easier. But even easier i think would be to watch about 30 different oil stocks and trade those. Much more innefficiencies in that then the oil contract itself.

How did you get comfortable with growing size?

You have to be greedy and want more and more. And of course you have to believe in your strategy and what you are doing. If you are confident then it is an easy leap to take larger and larger positions so to make more and more. I started with 200 share positions and was quicily trading...
