Question for NYMEX, NYBOT floor traders....

How do you get on the wait list?

    brent vs. nymex

Yeah that's the rumor that's floating around. Anyone notice the move in Sept/Oct calendar spread in Brent over the past couple of days? Someone definitely needs a bunch of the front month contract and is willing to pay up for it.

    Trader P/L 2005

Just to point out, MK has only been posting his pnl since mid-May and he has taken a lot of time off. So it's not like he's been profitable everyday for a year.

    Nat Gas trading

If you're talking about 40-50 Henry NatGas on ICE, the answer is no. It's $75/tick on a 1 lot. The spread btw bid/ask is around 3-10ticks.

If you don't believe him, just ignore him. I hope he does do as well as his blotters say he does, but don't really care either way. :)

    Trouble at Refco

Don't really care if he is who he says he is or not. I've heard complaints from other traders that used and don't like the Refco Pro platform. So I'm asking if you're speaking from experience or if you just flame anyone that has a complaint about software? In my opinion, trading software...

    Remote trading for Prop Futures

Not sure about Vtrader, so I can't comment. But trading with IB and trading with a good prop futures firm is not even comparable. Scalping is something that is best done prop.

    Remote trading for Prop Futures

Yes, there are alot of differences, including commish, speed, cost, reliability, funding, etc. Too many to list. Really depends on the shop and trading style.

    Remote trading for Prop Futures

In my opinion, being remote for prop futures would kind of wipe out most of the benefits of being with a prop futures firm. If you were going to be remote, I think you'd be better off trading on your own and not splitting profits, along with getting a great tax break.

Prop Futures Shops in Los Angeles

What difference does it make? You can find them at just about every prop futures operation in Chicago. Look, I really don't want to get into any kind of debate here. I'm just looking for any info on any shop opening in the near future in LA.

Prop Futures Shops in Los Angeles

Taxes are just one part of the equation. And yes, you do give up a big tax advantage. However, you get to trade at member rates, direct lines to exchanges, bloomberg, reuters, analyst, full-time IT support, etc., as well as, access to some massive size. So depending on your trading style...

Prop Futures Shops in Los Angeles

Bump. I wonder why no one opens up a futures shop in LA. Would love to move back there at some point from Chicago.

    Crude diverging

The sell-off was due to the terrorist attack. The rally was due to the tropical storm being upgraded to a Cat-3 hurricane.

    are props trading crude/nat gas?

You can find some firms here, although they are mixed in with other types of financial institutions: http://www.theipe.com/electronic/membership_electronic.asp?sp=membership_list
