Do you pay Health Insurance out of your profits?

While we are in a health insurance thread, I think I saw somewhere that there is a way to get it through Bright Trading. Is this correct and has anyone done so? DS

    non optimized systems win rate

It's from his book: "Martin Zweig's Winning Wall on Street"-lots of good stuff in there. The 4% Swing is about as simple as it gets. Buy when the index rises 4% above its recent low; sell when it falls 4% below its recent high. I believe it was originally published by Ned Davis. A...

    non optimized systems win rate

You might consider Zwieg's 4% swing system as applied to the Value Line Arithmetic Index. It seems to meet your request, although my testing does not qualify as "verified". But it seems to hold up well. This attachment (.xls file) is from my Tradestation testing. DS

    Doug's Little Stocks

Holding periods vary some. I use 15, 30, and 60 minute bars, depending on the stock. Overall, losers exit around 10 bars or less and winners last around 20 bars. I've written about the exits earlier, The entry is fairly simple, consisting of a moving average type cross of a short term...

    Doug's Little Stocks

I use Multex Investor to screen. The screen (I call it my NotSPX screen) criteria are: 1. Not a member of the SP500 2. Price>5 3. Trades over 250000 shares per day. The screen gave 934 candidates. A stock meets criteria if: On the initial test (Tradestation) it shows about 50%...

    Doug's Little Stocks

Hello, I've enjoyed reading Journals and thought I would post one for a while. A very short background, I've been trading for the past 8 years and derive most of my income from it. I got started because after 25 years of working, they decided to eliminate my department (Chemical...

AAAintheBeltway posted in part: " [B]"Get the religious [stuff] out of government" might get you a round of applause at an ACLU meeting but it is totally out of step with the history and traditions of this country. The Founders were heavily influenced by religion, and many of the...

Is there any reason why technical analysis would work

I've seen the same question asked about why fundamental analysis "works". The key, IMO, to this question is: How do you find the "true" value a stock? For example, if a stock earns around a $1.00 per share what is it worth? Looking through the quotes, the P/Es for similar stocks varies...

Don't shoot me: Where do I start?

''Newbie, First, good luck. I agree with Hawker and read Elder's books and Murphy too. IMO, the biggest factors are psychology and money management. You have to know yourself very well: Do you want to be right more than you are wrong? What type of risks are you willing to take...

Personal advisor, trader for a friend???

I'm currently looking into a very similar situation and I live in Texas. Texas has no exemptions. From what information I've looked at, if you get paid for giving investment advice to even one person, you need to be registered. I'm in contact with the state regulators to figure out how to...
