Schwab After Hours Trading is BAD !!

If you direct routed, you should have been able to sell an existing long position. What did Schwab say? My experience, when I used them, was that the Active Trader staff were straight shooters and didn't try to sugar coat any answers.

Schwab After Hours Trading is BAD !!

IIRC, Schwab after hours orders aren't eligible to execute until 4:15pm, unless you direct route.

IB:Unable to login to account management

A couple weeks ago, my mobiletws watch lists for my real account and paper trading account disappeared. The watch lists are still there if I logout and use delayed data. Short of taking screenshots and re-entering the watch lists manually, is there any way I can restore them?

    Best Broker for trading options

I don't understand. You chose to deal with them. You knew the commission prices. You know your account size and trading frequency. Why accost them because of their prices? Yell at them if their service was bad, but if you don't like the price you agreed to pay, just move elsewhere, don't be rude...

VXX a good buy at current levels?

VXX is worth buying for several days each year. Now is not the time. I think we could see VIX under 11 after the debt ceiling vote on Wednesday. Don't try to predict VIX reversals; wait until they happen and then ride them up.

    Herbalife (HLF) Exposed!

The anxiously awaited analyst day is tomorrow. At-the-money options expiring Friday have an IV of 150. How would you play this?

how important is statement of account objectives?

One of my brokers (actually, its web site) wouldn't let me trade the leveraged funds FAS and FAZ until I changed my investment objective to "speculation".

    Implied before commodity reports

IV for USO used to go down right after the weekly EIA reports in the mid-2000's, back when oil's price was more closely linked to short-term supply and demand. Not so much now, when oil's price depends more on the dollar and the perceived future strength of the economy.

Will the market go down on a good jobs report now?

Unemployment is not expected to get to that target until 2015. The other threshold for stopping QE is inflation > 2.5% - we may reach that first, given that this is a jobless recovery and hiring will happen overseas rather than here if companies can help it.

No "copy and paste" possible from some website ?

Some sites trap mouse right-clicks so that you can't bring up the menu to copy or paste, but you can still use control-C and control-V to do the same thing.

    UVXY why is it down

If VIX quadruples to 60, UVXY may go up by around 8x. But if that doesn't happen until, say, next summer, UVXY may be in the single digits by then. Here's what I do: when VIX gets down to 15, I buy some UVXY and hold for up to a few days for a possible bounce. When VIX gets above 18, I wait...

    UVXY why is it down

You can read about this fund at http://www.proshares.com/funds/uvxy.html . It is priced similar to VXX and VIXY. All three are based on a mixture of the two front month VIX futures contracts. The VIX futures contracts are priced at what traders think VIX will be on the day they expire. They...

Why is HPQ trading under 15 if they expect 3.4 eps 2013??

Sure there is: shelf space. Fully 3/4 of the printer and ink space at the local Staples stores are taken up by HP. I think it's brilliant that a model that differs from another only in that it has an extra paper tray - in a completely separate module that could just as well be sold as an addon...

    The "VIX" of a stock

thinkorswim can show the volatility index of a stock. In a seminar, one of the reps said it's calculated "just like the VIX".

    UVXY why is it down

Are you buying UVXY because you want to make money when the market goes down? If so, why not buy puts on SPY? If you're buying UVXY because you saw it go down so much and expect it to "bounce back" - do you know how UVXY is computed?

day trading by options wth 5k

Trading options can be risky with small accounts because the temptation is to buy options that are cheap - out of the money or with little time value left- and these can go down in price even if the underlying goes in the desired direction. How to work around the PDT rule with options: -...

MCP, value play or value trap

I've read a suggestion that insiders have been buying at $10 so they can take it private at not much more than that, then resell it at a big profit. Have there been cases elsewhere where management intentionally drives down the stock price by understating the company's health so they can buy...

If anyone is interested in taking this class with me let me know. It's online.

It's pretty easy to install python from source into whatever directory you want. Then just change your PATH variable to look there before /usr/bin. I've often created a whole new user (e.g. loufahbb) if I want to use nonstandard software without causing any conflicts with my regular account...

Merrill Edge - anyone use this?

BoA had the same deal even before they bought Merrill. If you can afford to keep $25K in a deposit or CD account earning near zero interest and not available for trading, it may make sense.
