Do you scale out of your trades?

i really like how someone on et recently put it, 'scaling both in and out of positions makes it much easier to be right'. especially if it relieves any part of the psychological burden, this sounds like the right track to follow. good going man v

    Text-to-Speech engines

i use readplease 2003, and i know what you're talking about. in order to get it to pronounce acronyms or tickers as hard vowels, i had to trick it by spelling some things phonetically. for example, "SES" may come out right as "S EE S"

    Listening to your risk tolerance

Guys, thanks for the fantastic advice and input on my situation that many of us have faced. Excellent insight: "realise that you are simply exchanging probability of achieving the goal for a reduction in the time taken to get there." Cutten, I think you nailed it with your question...

    what's it worth?

plot1(average((upticks-downticks),20)); Interesting concept, on first inspection looks like an interesting relationship to price on a 100 tick. looks like it could be tested for divergences. would be interesting to see a % change for ES up against a % change for the indicator an edge...

    Listening to your risk tolerance

I've been scaling up at fixed dollar increments in the account. Currently this is a linear relationship, but i've been realising a desire to decrease risk over time in an asymptotic fashion if growth continues, which is a common preference. If I had 5 million dollars, I wouldnt trade...

    Additional IB Insurance Coverage

I've known that the SIPC doesn't insure futures, but I've never scruitinized the fact that brokers offer zero protection to futures accounts. I'm not surprised, I just never gave it substantial consideration until this interesting confluence of events (futures margin raised on the exchanges...

    Globex Thanksgiving Hours

http://www.cme.com/trd/calhrs/thanksgiving_2003_holiday_calendar832.html Call me 'special' but I am having some trouble interpreting the holiday hours for index minis on Globex tomorrow. It sounds like globex will take its normal 4:15pm EST-4:30pm EST break today, trade all night, and then...

System longengevity? How long can a decent system last on average?

yes, totally. i would never buy a system. my system was a collaborative effort with another trader, and i have studied it every which way i can think of. (not very hard either, conceptually it's pretty simple). my concerns stem from general uncertainty over volatility, changing market...

System longengevity? How long can a decent system last on average?

this topic interests me because i have been trading one fairly simple mechanical system for most of this year and done well with it. my concern is the uncertainty over whether it could either make a small fortune over a period of years, or peter out for good, starting tomorrow. i have several...
