Percent volume by Time Of Day?

I'd love to post what you're looking for. Unfortunately I use tickdata.com for all my historical intraday needs. I say unfortunately because they strip out the volume information from futures and cash indexes. I could take a couple of months of intraday data from the emini feed from Esignal and...

    Trendiness ranking of futures 2002 & 2003

I got the idea for trend strength from a article in Technical Analysis of Stocks and Commodities. The article was titled Futures According to Trend Tendency by E. Michael Poulos. It's also in Volume 10 starting on P. 38 of their bound stuff. Here's the link to the article on their website...

    Trendiness ranking of futures 2002 & 2003

One of my year end activities is to rank the markets. Since many futures traders are trendfollowers, here's some trendiness ranking info. that might be of use. Ranking of trending markets in 2002 with a duration of 30 days or more in the trend. 1. 90 Day T-Bill 2. Fed...

    how to feel more relax?

When my kids were young I wanted to give them a edge in life. I learned about accelerated learning and how Baroque music improves mental performance. http://www.calm.com.au/pages/02accelerated.shtml

    Zero Sum Game???

I think "they" are referring to futures markets where for every long contract there is a offsetting short contract. When commissions are added in the net is a net loss for all participants. Stocks are not zero sum and has been talked to death on ET.

    Adding exit rules dont work....

Here's the same test done with random SP data over the same time period. I see some big differences...maybe a opportunity to exploit. Need to check the stats to see. Thanks for the idea.

    Adding exit rules dont work....

What you're noticing is the normal behavior in the SP/ES markets. If you're on the right side of the market, exiting before the close results in sub-optimal performance because the high and low range for the day is normally completed very late in the day.

    What are your Trading Breakthroughs?

I can think of three ideas that made a huge difference in my performance (so far). 1. Learning to become a pig I've been trading the SP for a long time. It's no secret that the opportunities for profit vary from day to day. Years ago I looked at all the fat tail trades for a couple of...

    SP 500 tommorow direction.

I guess you're right on the ES. High on that bar was 74.00. HOD was 74.25. SP HOD was 74.00 and high of that bar was 74.00. I'd take that precision in a call anyday. Only question is what is the objective hit rate? Probably won't be answered through a forum. Oh well, it was something to watch...

The 14:40 call is obviously a miss.

    SP 500 tommorow direction.

It looks to me that the 14:00 call was 100% hit. Now it's 14:40. The market would have to go higher for this turn to be called. Looks like bottom of this move would've been around 14:30.

    SP 500 tommorow direction.

Nice up move on the bar around your 14:00 call. Set a new high for the day. If it's a turning point then I guess it should be the high for the day.

    SP 500 tommorow direction.

Doubled up my position at 72.75. Averaged in at 70.125. I like 70.25 for a stop so if it's hit...no loss. Otherwise I'll re-eval when we're up over 75.00.

    SP 500 tommorow direction.

Looks like it's taking a pause before going up some more at your 11:55 time. I'm expecting a move to 1077 - 1078 and then a big drop this afternoon. Maybe a turn around 14:00?

    SP 500 tommorow direction.

Thanks, my models indicate a large range today with the market ending not far from the open. If they're going to be right I guess it's going to be a wild afternoon.

Walter, do you have a time for today? I'm looking for a reversal either now or after yesterday's low is taken out. Any clues?

    SP 500 tommorow direction.

My models indicate a modest down day in a narrow range. I'm shorting near the open and looking to exit with 3 pts. I'll also be looking to front run program trading during the first hour for a couple of quick trades. With any luck I'll pick off 5-6 pts. in the first hour and call it a day. Nice...

What is a good percentage annual return for a day trader?

For a account with less than 200,000 in equity a return of 50% per-quarter or 300% per-year compounded is typical for a decent trader.
