Natural Gas, will it still follow oil??

Natty was up over 80% at its peak, and is still +57.5% even though it is 1.75 under the high from two weeks ago. It had been the best performing commodity of 2008, and it is due to a combination of factors including LNG. The Japanese were paying very high prices for natural gas last fall after...

BP Boss Hayward Bets Price of a Barrel Over Peak Oil (Update1) By Christian Schmollinger June 10 (Bloomberg) -- BP Plc Chief Executive Officer Tony Hayward is putting money on the line to dispute the theory of peak oil, according to his counterparty in the wager Kjell Aleklett, a professor...

Why everyone is trying to find a top in crude

It is my contention that the speculators are riding the wave, so to speak. Every time there is a geopolitical headline in the oil producing nations, they run it straight up, and considering where most of the oil is located, there are many such headlines. People need oil so they pay the price...

Why everyone is trying to find a top in crude

BBC NEWS Brazil announces new oil reserves By Gary Duffy BBC News, Sao Paulo The Brazilian government says huge new oil reserves discovered off its coast could turn the country into one of the biggest oil producers in the world. Petrobras, Brazil's national oil company, says it believes...

Why everyone is trying to find a top in crude

There is plenty of oil around, and no reason for it to be trading 138 dollars...yet. Someday we may actually have supply shortfalls, but right now we have excess production capacity and growing stocks of oil globally. You do your homework--this is a bubble and will likely play out the same as...

how bad did you get hurt by ICE today..will you trade on ICE tomorrow?

If you were trading WTI or natty you could take the opposite position at NYMEX to reduce your exposure, then when ICE came back you could cover both and shouldn't have gained or lost much. If you're trading Brent, Gasoil or the softs there are other risks, I realize.

    Stock Trad3r INDEX

Which was started by Comanche to make fun of the tool who calls himself stock_trad3r ... then the loser (not "looser"--take note so you pass your next quiz on that, ST) turns it into "his" index and starts on his usual "listen to me, I know all" tirade that everyone who has read one of his...

    Yet another gas/oil thread

They're not idiots, they're speculators who are trying to capitalize on market fluctuations...they want to be on whatever side of the market will make them money, it just so happens that for the past several years that direction has been up for energy. Most likely if anyone who traded oil heard...

    Yet another gas/oil thread

Actually production costs are way up (exploration, drilling, transportation), but the price of energy has gone up faster than the increase in costs and consequently Exxon Mobil and other oil companies are able to generate record profits. Keep in mind that they do not set the price of their...

    X-Trader vs. CQG Trading

eSignal was so unreliable that I canceled my account. CQG Trader's DOM does get bogged down sometimes in a very fast market, but it happens rarely and I have never had any problems with order execution even when this has happened. Not familiar with account minimums for CQG, but the FCM may...

    X-Trader vs. CQG Trading

He's right, but it's also expensive as hell. Depending on your clearing firm the cost is typically 1,000-2,000 per month for TT software in addition to execution fees. CQG is considerably cheaper at $25 a month and 20 cents a side, or $350 a month for unlimited trades (last I knew that was the...

    Another Crude Poll

While I'd rather see it go to 71, I suspect it will hit 125 or 130 before there is a significant retreat. Wouldn't mind being wrong, as I certainly am not going to buy it up here...can you say bubble?
