    Stan Weinstein

I saw a paperback copy of Stan Weinstein's "Secrets for Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets" available in Borders for $19.95. Since I saw it recommended in the thread on books, I bought it. Its copyright 1988. Can anyone who has read this book tell me if his ideas are still valid?

The prefect companion book to Reminiscences is Richard Smitten's Jesse Livermore: World's Greatest Stock Trader. Livermore didn't commit suicide because he busted out. He shorted before the 1929 crash, and after that feat he couldn't find anything challenging about the stock market anymore...

Class Action Lawsuit against NYSE Specialists

I wonder what would happened if the specialist/market marker were replaced by a sophisticated computer program so that we could get the "fair and orderly market" without the built-in thievery. Any thoughts on this? I can see a new stock market in the future which is open 24-7, and is...

genetics (i think i have a good idea)

As a computer programmer who has done maintenance on some pretty complex systems created by humans, I am scared witless about the genetic engineering that's coming in the future. I don't know how many times I've seen tiny little changes made to complex systems that eventually produced hugh...

The Monday July 22 2002 IBD has a front page article about short selling pros. It mentions one trader who does indeed make money by reversing the CANSLIM methodology. But, this being the second IBD article about shorting to come out, might just be among the signals to get long again.

    Fun in being short

If I recall correctly, in one of the market wizard books, O'Neil says that he got the capital for starting IBD from three trades that went especially well for him. One of these was a short.

    printing IB TWS user guide.

Does anyone know how to drop the entire TWS user guide to paper on a PC? Right now it looks to me like you have to open a topic window and print the window. Alot of windows. That would be very tedious. :(

Is the market one huge ponzi scheme?

I came the conclusion that the stock market is a legitimate investment scheme that has Ponzi scheme elements in it that arise due to human nature. The fundamental basic idea of the stock market is that one can own a share of a business. If that business is performing well, the value of...

    Stock traders almanac online?

Is there anything like the Stock Traders Almanac available online? I can't find a copy of the Stock Traders Almanac where I live, and Amazon.com doesn't give sample pages of it so I can see if its what I want. I need something that will tell me what days have events that will affect trading...

Is 'Positive Mental Attitude' motivation good for a trader?

Having worked in IT for so long and grappled with Murphy's Law for so long, I'm finding that I need to correct for an extreme negative bias in my thinking. So I'm now reading things like "Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude" by Clement Stone, and other things in that vein. That...
