User Names On Elitetrader (a fun thread)

A friend PM'd me an invite to this thread. The reason I'm 2manywhiners? That's Easy. There are simply Too Many Whiney People on ET, on the net in general, in the Markets, on CNBC, working for my former Broker, working for my current Broker, workin the corner stoplight at the off-ramp...

People like that steve tvardek. Where did you learn DAYtrading??

Lots of Nasdaq traders still use T&S. It's different but same.

People like that steve tvardek. Where did you learn DAYtrading??

Just remember to not place too much emphasis on the size of bids and asks on Level II. And try to pay as much attention to the trade size on the ticker as you are the actual Prices... VAP or Volume At Price bars can be helpful on 1 minute charts too. Anyone using Tick line charts? I don't but...

People like that steve tvardek. Where did you learn DAYtrading??

I actually laughed when I read this. In my opinion, you should be just as weary (or more so) of the people posting at 2am or 3am. Its scary to think these people are sleeping only 3 or 4 hours before trading a Live account. Maybe they just wake up really early, only problem is they're usually...

    Longest winning streak?

Not saying scalping can't be done retail... it's just harder!

    Longest winning streak?

$0.005 per share is average retail. I've heard of something like $0.0005 per share after ecn rebates, but that was several years ago and on crazy volume like 5,000,000 shares per month (it may have been more). I'm not sure which firm it was, it was a long time ago before a lot of automated...

    Longest winning streak?

So do I, the problem is that the success rate between prop (or similar) traders and retail scalpers is very skewed. The high volume multi-trader firms execute 1000s of trades each day. Costs come down. Retail traders have to do immense volume to get competing rates.

    Longest winning streak?

They trade with their firm's money, and they pay no or near zero commissions. Retailers who try to scalp lose. big. Damn decimalization...

    Longest winning streak?

Learn how to short. I like large retracements and/or reversals. So many investors want to "get the hell out of the bull before it turns bear," and that sets up large down trends. Will this market direction last? Who knows for sure? Learn to trade short, be humble, find patience, and you can win...

Report: Markets 'Are Like 1987 Crash'

I really don't think it does. I'm not disagreeing with your 'no crash' prediction, but... http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=1225953&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending ouch. I especially didn't care for your second post. I think I'll follow...

    Lay, Skilling found guilty...

As of 2004, the Lays had several family members holding millions. Lay was smart enough to diversify a small retirement into annuities that probably can't be touched, and some people still think he didn't know what was going on? Absurd. Yes. But he won't.

    Lay, Skilling found guilty...

A CFO at a Fortune 500 could pal up with a hedge fund manager (for their major $$$) short their company's stock, create a panic, run it into the ground, and really kill the value of the stock. Billions of $$$. It would probably be easier than grossly exaggerating the value of the company and...

    any bulls still out there?

You should try to learn before you start trading. When you absolutely know that you're ready... wait longer. It may be a bit late for you so... Try to sell tops when market direction first changes from up to down, and buy bottoms when the market has fallen but begins to reverse upward. If...

Report: Markets 'Are Like 1987 Crash'

By the way, the housing market isn't bursting, it's stalling in most areas. Meaning it's more sideways than downturn. In most of the country pre-owned housing is losing sales volume and many houses are sitting on the market untouched. Eventually prices will fall slightly and pick up the sales...

Report: Markets 'Are Like 1987 Crash'

Report: Markets 'Are Like 1987 Crash' No they're not. The chart patterns leading up to the crash can be found many times over since then, and with out a similar result. As far as interest rates and their relation to the crash, they were nuts then, they're not even close to being similar now...
