Ideas on not selling too soon for swingtrading?

If you are scalping and take small profits when it is your plan to go for the larger targets you need to look into your mindset. Need to be right, or fear of a loss are the two most common things when people are scalping or taking small winners. To overcome this, you need to be willing to...

Stop loss with different number of shares than position

Most brokers support oco orders and bracket orders. Look in to that.

When you use stop orders to exit from trades should you ever use discretion to exit early?

It depends on what logic your trades are based. I have a hard fixed stop, but if it doesn't do what I like to see, I just get out and do not wait until it hit my stop.

TWS + Excel DDE API running on a Mac

You need to stick with windows. I like mac too, but I always got stuck migrating from windows to mac, if it comes to trading software and/or applications. Excel version for the mac is absolutely a different animal than the version for windows.

What should a successful Trader's day/week look like?

I have several, but Interactive Brokers is pretty good for what I need.

    Day trading live online

I will never say trading is easy. It can be simple, but easy is the wrong word for it. It can be effortless, when you are experienced and know what you are doing, but getting there does take some commitment to see it through.

    Day trading live online

I respect your opinion but I see it differently. It is not OR. After trading for a long period I have made a decision to share what it takes to become a consistently profitable trader. The reasons for doing this are not monetary but to have some other needs that have to be filled. Recognition...

What should a successful Trader's day/week look like?

I live in Europe and do two time slots trading, every trading day. The Europe open session and the Us open session. This is how my day looks: I wake up around 7 am. I take a shower, get dressed and eat my breakfast. I fire up the computer and leave it. I take my kid to school and in the car on...

Do you trade for an income or for a compound effect?

Reits, wheel strategies, or making capital available for lending company's that do not want to use banks.

Thanks for sharing, I will look into it.

Do you trade for an income or for a compound effect?

I believe it is a choice if you go for an income or compound and it should not be dependent on your strategy. Your strategy should depend on your choice of income or compounding. So if it is a choice, what do you prefer? Do you have an example of a strategy that is negatively skewed that...

Do you trade for an income or for a compound effect?

What do you prefer? I know a lot of people that want to trade for an income and a very few that trade for a compound return on their investments. Or do you do both? Do you think you have another skill set needed for income trading and/or going for compound returns?

The $100 Martingale technique: 14 stocks I just bought

I would go in it with 1:2:8:4:1. Reason: not putting the highest commitment on the top of your scale in. If after 3 scale in you still have a loss possible because of added size, I would wait after the second scale in for a move that would set you up to engage a larger scale in and set the stop...

Burned on TSLA Put, please help me understand wash sale rule

Indeed, I described the naked call. Good that there are others on the forum to correct it.

Burned on TSLA Put, please help me understand wash sale rule

Because TSLA is at record highs, he lost money on the put he sold. Short a put option. Put sold = you pay the difference between the strike and the close if it is above the strike price of the put you have sold.

    ''Why did ES turn there?''

Although I do often buy the low of the day or sell the high, I also have more than one 'try' because it is not always really clear, even with orderflow. There is a shift and then a 'push'. That push comes later after the turn 'spike' and is not ready visible at the moment the low or high is...

has anyone use a trading psychologist?

I have plenty of people coming to me with years of experiences and frustrations that they are not profitable. They are very knowledgeable about almost every system out there but they do not know how they feel about them self's or even know why they behave in a particular way. I would almost say...

    Question on support and resistance

Are the key support levels you trade, key support levels? Support should act as a support, which means that if your stock gets to that level your change of holding should be greater than 50%, otherwise it is not key level support. Besides the fact, everything can happen on a support/resistance...
