    Bank withdrawals & Cash hoarding

I just got off the phone with a friend and she told me that she was withdrawing 100K and putting it in a safety deposit box. Has anybody else met other people who are doing this type of thing? She claims that lots of people are doing it but it is the first time I've heard about it; of couse...

US Comptroller on 60 Minutes: America is facing total collapse

Once again, 13% is not assigned to 'retirement saving'. That is ONE component: the other two components are 1) disability insurance and 2) survivor insurance. As I stated earlier, for 95% of the population SS is the BEST investment they will ever make. - It pays out no matter how...

    Who likes Paulson (poll)?

I agress 100% with the gov't injecting an infusion of money into the system to resolve or mitigate the problems we are having. However, listening to Paulson today just makes me sick. I cannot believe that POMPOUS liar could have ever been CEO of GS. He uses the word, 'O.K.', the way a...

US Comptroller on 60 Minutes: America is facing total collapse

Dude, I can read just fine. The gov't takes 13% total to cover three components: disability, life insurance and retirement savings. You said; "I can pay less than 13% for disability". Fine, you've spent less than 13% to pay for ONE component. Look up 'disability insurance' rates": I...

US Comptroller on 60 Minutes: America is facing total collapse

If you spend the entire 13% purchasing 'disability' insurance then you will have nothing left for 'survivor insurance' and nothing left for 'retirement savings'. Also, you only pay SS taxes on income UP TO $102,500 and some portions disappear before that level. I didn't fail basic math at all.

US Comptroller on 60 Minutes: America is facing total collapse

That is a sure recipe for disaster. For 95% of the population Social Security is the absolute BEST investment that they ever make. By the end of the 3rd year of receiving SS benefits you have already received more than you paid in. Bear in mind, a good part of SS is insurance: disability...

Senate passes $612 bln defense spending bill

The last numbers that I heard regarding China military spending (let's just cut the bullshit and quit calling this type of spending 'defensive'), was $90 billion. I remember it because Rumsfeld was having a kinipsion-fit over the "30% increase". (The same year that we increased our 300+...

Senate passes $612 bln defense spending bill

Excellent link. Very depressing because 1) it's true, 2) the majority of Americans support our imperialism, and 3) a nation armed with nuclear weapons and a pyschology based on irrational religious beliefs and a history of militarism can mean nothing but trouble. As Einstein said; ""I...

Senate passes $612 bln defense spending bill

Certainly, any gov't spending is helpful to the economy and stocks. Private spending is also. However, our gov't spending would help a whole lot more stocks and the nation & world if the money WASTED on military goods was spent on useful things. R&D in energy, space, the environment, the...

Its the great depression today! (for Russia)

Be very careful gloating over Russia's pain. Russia, China, America, Brazil, Europe, all of us are in this thing together. Accept it or not: we're one planet, one species.

    Determining the trend

Trading the ES, I use a 7.5 point range bar to determine the trend. If the Close of the previous bar is higher than the Open the trend is up. If the Close of the previous bar is lower than the Open the trend is down. I trade pullbacks looking for 2-4 pt. gains; 1.5 pt. stops.

Do people's attitudes to others reflect how they feel about themselves and their life

No poblem at all. As I have said in past posts, I completely respect your opinions. Don't always agree, but often I do. You have certainly never shown hostlity or blantant disrepect for people and I DO get indignant far too often.

    Multi family dwelling as investment

Yes; and I try to offer the best rates & service in the area. I have never dissed the concept of people earning money. I insist that people pay taxes at progressively higher rates and I have no problem with society providing a basic standard of living of all can be assured. What does '...

Do people's attitudes to others reflect how they feel about themselves and their life

Damn guys!!! Give me a break. I realized the error of my original reply to the school principal, apoligized and explained what I was thinking when I overreacted. I'm really not all that bad. My life and my trading are doing just fine. I always get a little short-tempered at election time...

Help a High School with a Trading Project

I might have overreacted a little and I apoligize if I came off to harsh. I know you mean well and shouldn't have dissed you. However, as a trader, I have to tell you how worthless this career really is. People can talk all they want about the 'role of futures mitigating risk' and blah...

    Obama Tax Cuts

No!!! YOU miss the POINT. Why should 'charity' be limitied to people with religious or liberal beliefs? Care for the poor, sick and needy is the responsibilty of ALL of us: not just the very few concerned. (Not that I believe for one second that YOU would qualify as one of those 'few...

    Obama Tax Cuts

NOT true at all. I suspect that you are young and full of piss & vigor and prideful of your earning potential and future. Let's hope that you aren't struck by an unexpected bout of ill-health or family responsibilies in a recession. Millions of Americans are self-sufficient, wealthy...

    Obama Tax Cuts

In FY 2007, I paid $ 28,743 in Federal Income Taxes on 159K of Adjusted Gross Income. I assure you, I've never received a 'hand-out'.
