S&P 500 Futures (SP) Seasonal Chart

Except for day trading, I always check seasonal before anything else. But I would never trade only on a seasonal pattern, only on fundamentals or only on a chart indicator. Seasonal analysis is really overlooked. The average of the past 20 years, display on a chart will not tell anyone...

    Active DOM traders

Yes it can be done. And it can be taught! https://www.krechendo-trading.fr/ (It will be easier if you speak French) They actually teach different methods and also DOM trading. These guys used to post on YouTube, until they opened a Hedge Fund in Luxembourg. I think they are in London...

Lumber is starting to look interesting

Today or Monday maximum, is a good time to exit. Not being to greedy, I am flat this morning. This is a thin market, 1 or 2 contracts maximum and always front month. Anyway, not a bad day :sneaky:

    Stop Losses are killing me

Yesterday was an up day and if I may, perhaps trying to short was not the best way to make money. Also, the SP500 is one of the hardest market to trade intraday. Like Bone, I think that S/R on a minute chart means very little: A real intraday S/R is where the most trading activity took...

    Day trading profit target

Another goal could be to increase you maximum "authorized" day loss, as soon as you don't have more than 1 max loss per week and and your weekly profits are twice your weekly losses. And lastly, if you don't break even every month, you should stop the bleeding, paper trade and learn more.

    Day trading profit target

You should focus on the risks instead of profits. What about a goal of $500 of loss maximum and then, no trade the next day if this "goal" is met. (analysis, why the loss.. and paper trade only). The profits will come.

Lumber is starting to look interesting

I am having a good time with Lumber :sneaky: If you look at the seasonal patterns, you could see a short between the 5 to 15th of July. The COT are still Long with less strength. My chart show me Long exhaustion. As soon as I read the COT + a chart pattern, all going short with the...

When do traders have to pay the taxes - is it quarterly or annual when filing the taxes ?

If your projected payments for this year (quarterly estimated tax payments or monthly withholding), are less than 110% of your last tax bill, yes you should adjust and pay every quarter. So, to avoid paying too much in advance and to avoid legally any penalty, you should pay every year 110% of...

    how to learn trading?

Good coaches or teachers or even "mentors" are not necessary good players. Different competences and abilities are needed. I even think that finding a great player who can be a good coach is almost impossible (and vice versa). If the best traders (or for any other profession) know the...

    $286 left

The following is a 100 tick chart that I use (ES instead of MES). I hope that will make sense to you. The arrows are your entry and exit on this ES chart. Best!

    $286 left

May I ask you why did you decide to go long at 9:50:10 and why a (large) stop at 9:51:02 was triggered? Do you use a DOM and / or what kind of chart?

There is no strategy wizard unfortunately. You could check the Tradestation forum: It is full of ideas, strategies and indicators. Best!

How do wash sales work for investing after daytrading it?

To avoid that, I separate day trading activities from investments: Investments in my name and day trading inside a separate entity (LLC). The company made the MTM election, not me. So, the company has 2 brokerage accounts for day trading and I have 2 others in my name for investments. It...

Is IB still my best option?

I your account > 100K you can have a portfolio margin account (more leverage if you need). The very low cost of margin + portfolio margin account are unmatched in my opinion.

Does IB offer Letter of Credit funding?

SIPC inssurance = $500K, not for derivatives. The risks are mostly with Futures & Forex, and alternative investments. (Remember MFGlobal?) Spreading to 3 brokers is already spreading risks. Safest: US gov treasuries when bought directly to TreasuryDirect...

Is a LLC/ C corp worth it for daytraders? Advisor wants to charge me $7k

After reading books (like TooEffingOld just said) and checking few websites, one of the best move would be to hire an accountant (check this forum) with a proper understanding of your situation, and what is a "security business trader", MTM, Trader tax status, for accounting and tax purposes.
