    Yesterdays action

From SI: Sounds exactly like what happened in the E-mini spike on 7-14. Though yesterday was a more orderly decline due to the built in delay that pit trading has structured into it. Perhaps some type of delay needs to be built into the E-mini when the futures exceeds cash by a certain...

Explanation of market Drop on July 14, 2003

....the more I think this spike was probably caused by a large trader moving his business from the pit to the emini and trying to fill an order in the emini the way he would in the pit. Perhaps the CME's new "Stops logic" will be something that slows down trading whenever futures gets way out...

ES- more 100+ contract trades today?

Could be more institutions moving over to the emini from the pit contract. Could also be a reason for these spikes as the institutional traders screw up when converting to electronic trading. Just speculating. :)

Another Day , Another Fat Finger Trade

You would have to have a screen set-up showing all the indexes on a 1 minute chart with volume. Perhaps having ES (s&p500), YM (Dow), NQ (Nasdaq) and whatever other instrument moves with the indexes SPY, DIA, QQQ, DAX, GE. It would have to be something handy that could be brought up for...

Another Day , Another Fat Finger Trade

Agree - forget the news, watch the indexes - see if one is initiating the move or if all indexes are moving equally. Of course you have to be quick.

Another Day , Another Fat Finger Trade

1.) If there is a spike in say the ES, fade the spike but don't trade the source of the spike (in this case ES). Instead trade YM or NQ etc. Otherwise you could end up exposed with a busted trade. 2.) Is it news or is it a mistake/spike? If its a news related move, it would probably...

Another Day , Another Fat Finger Trade

The reason for these spikes in the electronic indexes has, IMHO, to do with a flaw in the way the e-contracts are traded that is going to have to be addressed in some manner. There has to be some type of circuit breaker that controls how far out of wack the futures can get from the cash...

    Unreal

    - you just know these fat finger "mistakes" on ES and YM are not accidents. Someone has probably got it figured out with cross-bets in other futures, stocks and options so that even if trades are busted in one index, they make money. Perhaps ES and YM need some kind of one-minute...

    My experience with wireless data

I wonder what it would be like with those computer head-sets and WiFi in the future. They have to make wifi like cellular service with reliability. I wonder how many screens you could see on a head set. That would be the ultimate in remote/mobile trading.

You get the feeling that they are not even watching the markets. I stopped watching cnbc a long time ago - figured price would tell me all I need to know.

Institutional trading floors are designed to be impressive. So, its no surprise that you were impressed. Fancy furnishings, the Ivy League diplomas, business suits etc. They are designed to impress customers and potential customers they bring in - insurance companies from Indiana, Japanese...

    NYSE Hegemon

Here is a partial quote from a guest editorial in today's Wall Street Journal. Its written by Meyer Frucher Chairman and CEO of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange. He states his case that traders get quicker fills, tighter spreads and lower transaction costs on NYSE stocks using regional stock...

    Worldco Santa Monica

This prop industry does seem a bit bitchy and incestuous. I’ve seen more collegiality between used car salesmen working for competing dealerships. Not blaming any particular firm, though some seem to attack others more so.

    Daytrading Breakouts in the ES

JR was killed - not because of foul language, but because the Elite Establishment and the Trader Trilateral Commission did not want him giving away any trading "secrets". So you see, he had to be terminated (w/extreme prejudice).
