    RefcoFX vs. Oanda

An ECN (electronic communication network) is a place were rival liquidity providers compete to have the best bid or ask. You can take part in these market by splitting the spread and stepping ahead of the big players. A "bucket shop" is were you trade against the broker. They force you to...

    RefcoFX vs. Oanda

If I were to trade cash forex I would want to make sure that my broker was using a ECN model instead of a "bucket shop" model. I just can't help but think that futures are a better way to trade forex because of the smaller spreads, lower commission and access to "real" options

The Capitalist system, it's flaws and possible solutions.

Where did I get the idea that natural resource wealth is a negative for a country in a capitalistic system? From the IMF, of course. http://www.imf.org/external/pubs/cat/longres.cfm?sk=3126.0

The Capitalist system, it's flaws and possible solutions.

To start with I belive that capitalism is the best economic system ever devised. However one weakness that it has is that areas with natural resources often often end up impoverished. This is why I feel that we are obligated in the west to "waste" money on aid.

Bill Frist - best trader ever

Funny that the Washington Post would say something bad about a republican. It's really to bad that they have enough power to make him look guilty even if it is just an unfortunate coincident. (However, if he is guilty throw the book at him)

    Uranium and Coal

I agree that coal and nuclear are underutilized energy sources and on balance as environmental sound as the alternatives. I am afraid though that there will not be widespread acceptance of this reality until every journalist who voted against Regan retires.

    Who arbs who

In US Government bond trading are the futures traded off the cash market or does the cash market drive the futures market? When my order sent through IB to the CBOT is the best bid and I get a fill does that mean someone from Goldman Sachs got a fill in the interbank cash market and is able to...

Help with getting started on DAX Futures

If you are looking at trading the DAX futures so that you can trade and keep a day job you should consider trading ES (e-mini S&P 500 futures). Often (although I haven't checked for a while) ES will have more volume before 8:30 am than the DAX futures. Since you can also trade ES in the evening...

    Bund conundrum?

One thing to consider when forecasting interest rates is the spilling of liquidity from Japan. The BOJ recently said that the period of super loose monetary policy will be over soon. It must be considered as a possible bearish factor for US government bonds and could have huge implications for...

deriving probability of rate hikes from Fed funds futures

http://www.cbot.com/cbot/pub/page/0,3181,1563,00.html The last price of 96.280 would suggest to me that the market is pricing in a %99.2 chance of a hike. (3.72/3.75=0.992)
