Need Advice on A Position (Major Loser) Dollar-Cost Average?

great stuff everyone I really appreciate the education. I have decided to continue holding for the long term as originally planned. Having $20k wrapped up isn't a big deal and even if it were to all disappear it wouldn't change the way I live, I am not wealthy my any means but am debt free with...

Need Advice on A Position (Major Loser) Dollar-Cost Average?

Thanks for the comments thus far everyone. I planned on this being a long hold at purchase time and admit that because of my commitment and belief in the company I did not set a stop loss or even have an idea in my head of a % drop that I would exit. In my mind I planned on selling as soon as it...

Need Advice on A Position (Major Loser) Dollar-Cost Average?

Took a long position last November in a company I believed in (and still do). It is an oil and gas company named Cimarex Energy (XEC) and I have worked with them off and on since 2010. I bought 220 shares @ $90.58 for a total investment of $19,928 and it has basically steady dropped since my...

Does a disciplined trader smoke weed (?)

I thought traders were supposed to do pills and snort lines out of strippers butt cracks each night, not weed.

For active traders: which tax status have you chosen? Investor, Trader Status, or Mark to Market?

that is correct. The only problem is that you are trading out of an IRA account and have to pay a 10% early withdrawal penalty if you touch it before 59 1/2 YO. IMO it would be best used as an "investment" account rather than "trading" but I think one's age is a major factor in that decision.

Bigorexia: When bodybuilding goes too far

Agreed, Nothing worse than fake natties. Steroids do provide a major advantage to muscle growth and general body composition improvement...especially when used by people who knew what they were doing. And I agree that it is no small feat for the average person to max out their genetic...

Bigorexia: When bodybuilding goes too far

A lot of bodybuilders and fitness models are involved in "G4P" or gay for pay where they do sexual favors for men in exchange for money or other things. It is widely known in the bodybuilding community but not accepted as normal or good. As far as steroids go I agree with the above that you...

I wanted to give an update to Interactive Brokers idle cash interest policy after speaking with a representative... - They pay 1.68% on idle cash in your account. - They pay that interest ONLY IF your account (including equities) has a value over $100,000. - They do not pay interest on the...

Charitable Remainder Unitrust (CRUT) - School Me Please

I understand what you are saying. I have been doing some research and I think a CRUT really only becomes "a tax haven" if someone is about to experience some serious capital gains tax. Also I didn't realize the distributions to the beneficiaries was considered taxable income.

Charitable Remainder Unitrust (CRUT) - School Me Please

Not sure which forum to put this at... My father in law has a CRUT that he is wanting to set up with a brokerage account. After talking to him about it for a while I was thinking "why the hell don't I have one of these". No capital gains tax and you are able to write off contributions. I...
