    Becoming Gordon Gekko

You can get a loan on the car from any bank or credit union, interest rates are so good right now too. I have done it, thinking of doing it right now. You would probably take a bigger hit on license and transfer fees and hassle time selling the car and getting another one, assuming you need to...

    Dow Jones News-Michigan Sentiment Numbers

Another way to go is to use Newswatch at mytrack. You can set up folios and only get the news on those issues, you can write very complex filters and look for keywords and phrases. Trading off of it is still a real pain IMO, fascinating and educational but a pain. Dow jones News tends to be...

    Dow Jones News-Michigan Sentiment Numbers

Trading on news is a real pain. If the news comes out before the market opens you have to judge how much gap you are willing to eat, and that has to be based on the news and some fundamentals, not real simple to decide. Some trade the pullback for a few pennies. If the news comes out during the...

What's the best way to trade full time, while working for someone else full time?

Just a thought: Go to a longer timeframe, trade weekly bars. You can do all the work on your own time. I'm pretty sure lots of people do it that way. They wouldn't be on this forum much since this one is dedicated to day and swing trading. Max

What's the best way to trade full time, while working for someone else full time?

I would bribe people heavily, as much as it was worth. I'm almost to that point with my job. I'm first going to set up an autotrading system running on my home machine and oversee it with GoToMyPC. If that doesn't work I'm going to set up an alerting system and trade at work when I get an alert...

    macd and stochastic

That is the only use I found for them but I did not try too hard to find other uses. I optimized them together and use them like a pattern both for short and long entries. The Stochastic-RSI looks like it gives earlier indications though, haven't investigated it yet. Max

    Ruthless, the key to success

Ruthless is perhaps not quite it. Focused is better to me. Be very focused and set things up so that others have to either contribute a lot or get out of the deal. Partners suck as far as I'm concerned. Have an organization without an organization, just have talent on tap when you need them and...

fake linearity of life and complacency of people

Seems like it. I've learned a lot about behavior in the last 15-20 years on the same job with a lot of the same people: No vision. That is the bottom line, abso-frigging-lutely no vision. No desire to gain vision or improve it, abso-frigging-lutely no desire. They do not get into anything, an...

Report by the E.P.A. Leaves Out Data on Climate Change....Draw your own conclusions

There is just so much bad science that I don't believe any of it. It has been shown that the ice core samples used to measure cooling and warming periods are way, way off. They interpret daily temp changes, could even be intraday, as years. They still use them. Max

    Anybody Else Hate Quote.com

For sure. The thing is that so far management isn't doing much about it. The recent improvements to Qcharts were just short of spectacular IMO but the data has to be good before many people are going to sign up. There is some consolidation going on in the industry, maybe somebody with money and...

    VIX misconception?? -- Must read

Trading anything with leverage is almost certain to lead to a blowout. If the VIX is low, then the Bollinger Band would be narrow I guess. Narrow bands are possibly more definitive because you can use the length of the channel in your decision making, and the width of the bands' channel. Max

Report by the E.P.A. Leaves Out Data on Climate Change....Draw your own conclusions

The Environmental concern of great importance was global cooling from 1960's to 1980's. Then it switched to Global Warming. All environmental concerns are of such great importance that we are supposed to panic and get our wallets out and throw money at the environuts and trash our lifestyle...

Making MORE MONEY TRADING working full time?

Trying to trade and work sucks big time. I'm thinking the most I want to manage while working is to oversee an autotrading system via GoToMyPC, checking in on it a few times during the day. The closer to getting that up and running I am the more I realize it is a good thing. Max

    TS radar question

Tradestation 2000 is available used from time to time, it's no longer sold in the US. It is not real easy to use the Radarscreen with quote.com but with third party software from traders-soft or dynastore you can get history. This is a cheap solution with unlimited issues but it is not...
