Commission on Limit Order for Specialist

Not only do handling fees suck (it is a ridiculous price to pay), and you lose your place in line, but if your broker doesn't have a good NYSE or AMEX fee structure you get charge a cancellation fee on you limit order when you cancel it.

ARCA or INET - who is more liquid?

Qaz, I understand what you are saying here and that is exactly why I am questioning Don's statements. It seems to me that he is saying that somehow M.M.'s can use ARCA and overcome exactly what SuperMontage is supposed to be about, direct electronic execution for up to 1 million shares. I am...

ARCA or INET - who is more liquid?

Ok now I am really confused! Again are you referring to trading Nasdaq or NYSE? If you are referring to Nasdaq than I would like to know exactly how this works because as I understand the rules this would be considered "backing away" and is violation of NASD trading rules. I realize that a...

ARCA or INET - who is more liquid?

Don, Can you explain this in a little more depth. Are you referring to OTC or Listed quotes. I am not exactly clear on what it is that you are stating here. Thanks. MACD

    Short Selling

Here's a strategy.......... stock is puking, find an ARCA or ISLAND on the bid and hammer his ass! Then make sure you cover your short by being on the bid while the selling pressure is still there. P.S the uptick rule does not apply to ISLD or ARCA shorts so you can sell into momentum and...

    NYSE's Electronic Proposal

How much is the Open Book actually delayed? I trade 99% of the time on the Naz because of issues just like the ones mentioned here. I'm just not comfortable with the control the specialist has over the stock. If I see a posted price I want to be able to hit it ( or at least have a chance)...

    Hypothetical Question

Why do people make this stuff so complicated??? I regularly see these ' hypothetical questions' and wonder why people over analyze this stuff. Make an agreement, get the money, employ the system, share the profits, and get on with your lives! The facts are simple, you've got a system you...

Prop firms for liquidity trading ??

What does this mean? Is it $1 per trade, per ticket , per execution, per fill ??? There are differences and $1 per trade is a misleading statement. The other question is are your ECN fees and liquidity rebates marked up or down? If so it is important to know that as well in order to make...

    Mathematician Plays the Stock Market

I recently started reading this book but have not yet finished it. I suppose all books have some value, but if you are looking for insight into some miraculous trading system it ain't here. It does however make some interesting references to market psychology.

    ECN Rebates

Rawman is right. The liquidity game is a dangerous one, just ask some liquidity traders who were trading SIRI last week or SUNW today. When news breaks and you have a 25, 50 or 100,000 share position on the wrong side it gets real painful, real fast. I've seen guys get hammered big time and...

SEC to Nearly Double Equity Transaction Fee

Anacott, No one complained when the SEC fees were decreased, of course not! That's common sense, I don't complain when no one breaks into my house and rips me off either but of course I'm going to complain when they do. Besides, the decrease was short lived and as I have said before it was...

SEC to Nearly Double Equity Transaction Fee

I would hazard to guess my grandmother makes more trades in 1 month then you do in a year pal! No big deal you say... try this on for size; most days myself and the guys in my group average between $250-300 per trader in SEC fees, some days a guy will do $500! You do the math, it will cost us...

Might just be Lobster but it doesn't hurt to do a little observation and possible experimentation. More posts like this and less of a lot of the bullshit that flies around ET these days would nice if not helpful. Thanks again! MACD
