    20 reasons why Oil to NEVER hit $135.00 again...dated: May 22, 2008

Do not know why someone dug up this old thread. The entire thread is meaningless. Better bury it dead. As so many people have said here, it is waste of time trying to forecast price level. With energy futures, you trade and you don't invest. Had you shorted CL at $135 and you were $12 out of...

    CL Close Time For Pivot

The official settle/close is at 2:30 PM EST. But some people use the entire trading day (Globex included), and some people don't. This is how trading software like CQG, eSignal work. You can use CLEK0, or CLAK0, or just CLK0....

Can we get some early hurricanes to save the NG from going to $3 handle?!

How to Download IB Activity to Software?

How do you download daily activities from IB to MS Money or Quicken? The activities are mostly futures, and the downloads do not make much sense. Because of the daily MtM? Or have to use other software?

Market never gives gifts to traders, only traps. The bears have nothing to fear about: no weather, no government intervention, no more dumb UNG buying, no nothing :-) Bears have one full month to crack it below $4. It may be much sooner, could be tomorrow :D

Traders do not care about over-sold, or over-bought. When traders smell blood, they will come. Same thing happened to sub-prime, Lehman, etc.... For NG, not a lot of people are complaining. Producers are happy to hedge at $5.75. Users like us like low NG utility bill. Banks get the hedging...

This is not really supply/demand. There is plenty CL, but it is trading at $83. And gasoline and heat oil can't cover the refining margin. We do not hear the calling for comgressional hearing for low NG price :D NG producers won't care. Most of them already had > 70% output hedged at...

Although NG volatility has been down recently, it still carries a vol of about $0.25/day. So a $6.5k margin does make sense. You need a lot of capital to carry any outright positions. The other ways are to trade spreads (not like Henry Hunter), and intra-day to capture the alpha. Options...

This looks rather funny. With the volumes down quite a bit, a lot of pros go elsewhere. With the broker fees and other costs, you need more volatility and more trade volume to attract trading capital. Things should pick up in a month or two.

What are the correlations of NG vs other things? anything you can think about, and correlated?? NG is on its own, a quiet slow death. The only thing for certain is that UNG will continue its slide. Eventually get shut down, or re-organized....

Correlation: WTI crude and S&P 500

Just a joke. If you get hold of that Russian guy (Sergey Aleynikov) who reportedly downloaded Goldman program codes, how the correlations were built in the trading programs. I figure all the above mentioned correlations were built in. And there are even more than that. This is how traders...

Correlation: WTI crude and S&P 500

All correlations can break down: 1. During 2008-2009 financial crisis, the S&P and CL correlation was negative; 2. During that period, CL and gold was correlated and both were against dollar; 3. In current period, CL and dollar correlation gets loose. But CL and S&P get close. You'll...

/QM or /CL which is better to trade?

QM is good for starters with small accounts ($5k). Anything more, you go to CL. Also, QM is cash settle. So you do not have to worry about EFS, etc.

What Brokers Offer TAS (Trade At Settle)?

This is for pros, and I've not seen any retail shops that offer them. Huge order no problem, someone will do with you. If you buy CLH0 TAS (any time of the day), say at flat price. If the contract settles that day at $75, that is the price you'll pay to long the contract. For hedgers...

What Brokers Offer TAS (Trade At Settle)?

Can you guys name a few broker/platforms that offer the energy TASs? The pros trade TAS often, but not sure if any retail brokers, like IB would offer it. Thx.
