Best book for Series 7 exam!

Megrean, I scored a 61 on my mid term exam(only options, munies, securities, debt) and 68 on the final( from the cd rom exams) the first time I took them. The nice thing with Dearborns cd rom test was that you could build and customize your exams on the areas you are weak. The key is to get...

Best book for Series 7 exam!

Gene, I have to agree with you. I haven't looked at other study material, but Dearborn helped me get an 87 last week. The cd rom is what cinched it for me. I did review the book once, but after that I just banged out test after test. If anyone is interested, I'm willing to sell mine. I...

"Humble advice for Series 7 candidates"

Just passed my exam on Monday. My head was pounding after the exam, not to mention my heart when I was waiting for my score. I used Dearborn. Highly recommend. The CD was the key. I did study the book first to get familiar, but banging the tests is what did it. I actually had about 5...

interesting news re war on terrorism

I hope you don't think that when we kill Osama this will all be over ?!! I'm very optimistic that we will , to a major degree, destroy terrorism, but it will take a lot longer than defeating the taliban. Iraq's and Iran's governments must be overthrown to even begin to put and end to this mess...

interesting news re war on terrorism

Babak, Great catch. I read Drudge daily especially now. I saw the headline on the rumsfeld rant but didn't read the details. The Saudi angle is scary. Bottom line is,and most people won't admit it, but with few exceptions, the whole middle east needs to be turned upside down in order to win...

    EchoTrade traders

Then it seems there is a penalty for being a remote trader. Based on what Rushman said about the software you do get, you can't even run Boll. Bands with MA's? I hope someone can provide more definitive information.

    EchoTrade traders

Boy, I thought I'd get an immediate response from Rtharp or other Echo traders setting the record straight.

    EchoTrade traders

So to carry this further, if you are in a Echo office, it cost you $600/mth. Now does that give you First Alert? If so, then its a slap in the face of the remote traders. Not only do they have to pay $600 to get the same software package but buy their own computer and cable connection. No T1 or...

    uptick rule

This has to do with only one thing, competition!. the NYSE and NAS are afraid of loosing big to the new SSF. They need to give incentives for traders to stay and play in their sandbox. This should be interesting. SSF must have some liquidity ready if they are willing to get rid of the uptick...

    EchoTrade traders

Rushman, You stated you were remote. Which Echo charges $300/mth. Are you saying it costs another $300+/mth to use First Alert? Please tell me I'm misunderstanding your comment. Thanks

A Trading Edge at a Proprietary Firm?

andrasnm, Your statement that the odds are heavily stacked against you, has brought us back to the point of this thread. In you opinion, does this apply to daytrading at an off floor prof. firm. If so, can you elaborate on 2-3 areas that make this in your opinion, as loosing game over time...

A Trading Edge at a Proprietary Firm?

Airspeed, That was my last point above. Sorry I wasn't clearer. You can be a member of an off floor Prof. firm and be remote.

A Trading Edge at a Proprietary Firm?

Airspeed, A quick distinction on the "pro" issue. The pros on the floor have an advantage over everyone. They're driving the bus. The pro's I'm referring to in this thread are the off floor pro's. Which I feel are next in line. Now what I've been able to determine to be a clear edge over...

A Trading Edge at a Proprietary Firm?

Speedracer, Hitman, Any of you guys doing spreads or pairs(arbitrage)? Takes alot of capitol, but spreads can provide a nice flow of profits. Pairs scare me a little bit more, only because there is no implied relationship. Atleast with a merger, you have a link.(letter of intent). Eugene

A Trading Edge at a Proprietary Firm?

andrasnm, I agree. Traders with the big firms are first to eat. But is an LLC or OFF Floor prof. firm next in line? next best thing? Also, can you help clear up my "Open Only" order question(see orginal post). Are these available to non prof. traders? Thnks

A Trading Edge at a Proprietary Firm?

Thought of another. Connectivity - As it relates to price. Due to the size of the firm, the cost of the connectivity can be spread throught the traders and provides a cost per workstation than if you were trying to get the same as a stand alone.
