Geithner, Paulson named in $200 billion lawsuit

All the charges in the article are true but if the intervention had not been undertaken AIG share price should have gone to zero. What would the plaintiffs expect then?

    Cash for Clunkers TAXED

Great program huh? Not only is the rebate taxable, normally the deal was based on MSRP so sales tax is figured from a higher amount than if the customer was able to dicker with his dealer.

•Swine Flu May Infect Half of Population in U.S., Kill 90,000, Study Says

The operative word is...."may". I'm getting to be kind of an old dog, so I remember the last time this came up. More people died from the vaccine than the flu, and a whole bunch of people suffered terrible side effects as well. For a little blast from the past check out the 60 Minutes...

    Third-world banks are outright Ponzis

Or the banks that are currently getting 0% loans from the Fed and charging 25-30% on credit cards.

Krugman Warns Obama that He'll Face 1937 w/out More, Massive Stimulus

It seems to me this guarantees future inflation. The money has been created and is in the economy. The banks can (may or may not) write off the debt but the money paid out remains.

Why the different prices for gold and silver?

True, until you sell the coins at market value. You will then be subject to capital gains tax. No free lunch.

    The End of America

The only outright error in Wolf's presentation I saw was her reference to the founder's association with the posse comitatus act. In actual fact it was the result of the Northern occupation of former Confederate states after the Civil War. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posse_Comitatus_Act It...

The Fed Beige Book describes an economy slipping into depression not recovering...

Maybe, maybe not. While swine flu can be very serious, the last panic turned out to be not so bad. More people died from the vaccine than the flu itself. http://www.salon.com/env/feature/2009/04/28/1976_swine_flu/

    Late Day Program Trades

Great question Tide31. Regarding the liquidation idea, it seems like it would be better to be a little more subtle about a liquidation than the massive pulse that seems to be simultaneous across the broader market. Selling into strength makes sense but all at once? Also, the market recovers...
