    Naked Put Options

This is also true for equity options. Few days back I sold few out of money PUT expiring 10/09... And I guess only 30% of required cash is blocked from my IB margin (will double check and post correction if that is not correct). OH used to block whole 100% (confirmed).

    OptionPain Subscription

This was a free service earlier built using free data feed. But now they are asking for handsome $49.99 per month. Isn't it too expensive? Does anyone really subscribe to it & do they work? http://www.optionpain.com/member/signup.php - Su

    Naked Put Options

They are very similar to covered call except you pay less in commissions. You can always do naked put (cash secured) if your account is approved for higher level of options trading. I guess the highest level of approval allows you to sell naked put for guarentee of less than 100% of cash value...

    Stock Futures vs. Underlying

SPX future is also off by few points. Unlike options, futures are done deals and always exercise at maturity if position is not closed. Also there is no possible exercise/assignment before maturity. So the price of future contract will follow the price expectation at maturity and has very...

    custom scanning software

I've done good deal of work on trade-ideas API, so I can easily do it if your scan can be broken in 2 phases where TI generates the primary scan and then we run secondary scan on the TI's result. This solution won't need huge machine and costly data feed. If you are planning to have realtime...

Cisco 871 Router & SonicWall Firewall

What kind of connection do you have? High-end router does not make any sense unless you have more than 1 internet connection. NAT simply means that you are firewall-ed :-) Trust me, a cheap NAT router ($40 max) should be more than enough for your need. My favorite is Linksys. I'm not a...

Any stock screener that shows past screen results?

TradeIdeas has historical mode and can take you back up to 3 weeks. I wrote a custom C# application using their ActiveX API that can dump those result in DB (I use mysql but it could be any database). Real-time alert is simpler but historical is also possible using a special "AutoHotkey"...

If you were to build your dream trading computer

Use VMware & Sandboxie to keep it clean, safe and fast... You really don't need huge machine, any dual core laptop plugged with 24' monitor (1920 x 1080 or better) should do the trick. Get two such setup for more screen... I keep my TWS on Laptop's 13' and charts on external 24' screen. - Su

    CL is wild :-(

So far ET forum (whose members include many successful traders and authors) was very helpful to me and I'm hoping that things will stay like this. In rare occasions, I even got response through PM (if poster didn't not want to share it publicly and I respect that). Guess the world is too big...

    CL is wild :-(

I started using CL as an extra indicator for DIG/DUG trades so I was not watching CL all the time. I read about tick/leverage etc for CL and took couple of paper trader in CL. Very exciting and I'm still investigating the possibilities - but here is my confusion... * Scalping 20 cents on...

    CL is wild :-(

Wow! Congrats. Can you please post your approx. percentage day's return on portfolio? PS: I've a small account at IB and so far I'm only day-trading equities. I started looking at CL as an indicator when got into DIG/DUG and this is how my story begins... - Su

    CL is wild :-(

Thanks HO, Trader273 and everyone else for your kind help :-) Trading futures looks very exciting but I'll stay away from it until I understand it fully. So I'll stick to paper trade for next few months. Can you please suggest any reading on CL trading or provide some tips for newbie. I've...

    CL is wild :-(

Today at 10:30 AM, I saw a big candle (70.50-69.15) for CLX9. Down by $1350 per contract could be a disaster for someone who doesn't have a stop. Even if you have a stop, it could cost big money due to slippage. Why does CL has these big candles? How to survive in this environment? Was there...

Do all brokers charge $1.50 like Interactive Brokers to modify an option?

CRAP - READ MY LAST POST ABOUT THE BEST OPTIONS EXECUTION THAT I GOT AT IB. I still love IB and will continue using them for Stocks (and possibly futures in future). - SU

Do all brokers charge $1.50 like Interactive Brokers to modify an option?

I'm pretty happy with IB for stocks :-) No one can beat their ultra-low commission for any retail customers like me... BUT IB SUCKS BIGTIME FOR OPTIONS TRADING. My first SMART LIMIT SELL @ .75 (2 contracts) was routed to PHX. I did not see the exact price action but had a feeling that it...

    Weinstein Trading and Fading

I'm speechless again :-( When MM fades any stock, they know 101% that they'll make money on the lot (because they also control the price). We as retail traders do not have such edge. You are a great trader and wonderful person. Seeing these drawdowns makes me sad. Please don't do it.
