    Historical Stock Prices

This may be a recent change to Yahoo! Finance. The historical prices show the actual prices (open, high, low, and close) and an adjusted close that reduces closing prices from before a dividend by the amount of the dividend. When you download this to their spreadsheet, the actual figures are...

I was only able to find last quote and charts on siliconinvestor.com. How do I get historical prices?

    Historical Stock Prices

I'm looking for a free site on the Internet where I can download historical stock prices (high/low/close). I tried Yahoo! Finance but their downloaded data is all adjusted for dividends and I'm looking for the actual prices. Any suggestions?

    Pairs Trading Strategy Model

I believe the earlier post said that "pairsfinder" and "pairfinder" are registered by the same person.

    Ib Tws

I also have never tried calling to make a trade. If you have your own systems problem, you can probably get through in a reasonable amount of time. If it's IB's problem (rare), I expect you can forget it. Check out the reviews of IB elsewhere on this site. The only complaint I have (and is...

Might just be the demo system. I rarely have a problem If browser version doesn't work, you can try stand alone version (and vice versa). Other than that, the only way to place or cancel order is over the phone.

    IB click on bid

What about if I'm long 500 shares and put in an order to sell 1000? Does IB split it as 2 orders so as to not need an up tick on the first 500 shares? Is my commission based on a 1000 share order?

    Kbh!

When the spike is a full point and immediately comes back down, coupled with the fact that there was no news reported, one has to suspect reporting of a bad trade.

    Pairs Trading Strategy Model

sslaven, Since you obviously have experience in this area, let me pose a few questions to you. I've been learning on the fly so to speak but would like to compare notes. 1) What sort of holding period do you typically experience for a trade? 2) When your trade is going against you...

    Pairs Trading Strategy Model

I think any references to price in this thread are just for simplicity sake. Most pairs traders are actually looking at the ratio of stock prices. So with a 10% increase in price on stock A, all other things being equal, we would expect a 10% in stock B. The www.pairfinder.com site does base...

    Odd lots

Can you set up limit orders for odd lots on NYSE stocks? Or are they only handled as market orders?

    Pairs Trading Strategy Model

Looks like a nice site. Similar to www.pairstrading.com. I like that "The Pair Finder" allows you to select the analysis period and filter out stocks with low volume, market cap, and price. Incidentally, there's another site, www.pairsfinder.com, that I accidentally went to. It's under...

Does IB have a plan to lower E mini commissions?

Remember about 2 years ago when IB refunded a full day's commissions (no min or max). It wasn't due to a problem, just something they were doing to thank their users and I guess get some publicity.

IB has MAJOR problems with OpenBook recently

I've seen some of my GTC orders on NYSE go blue at night (as usual) but not get revived in the morning. Also some hanging cancellations in pink state.

    Dividend capture

NasdaqTrader, Yes. You detail 100% of your dividend income on Schedule B. The total goes onto Line 9 of Form 1040. Capital gains are computed on Schedule D which, when you follow the form through, limits net losses to $3000. This is carried forward to Line 13 on Form 1040.

    Early Retirement

Doug, I'm still working but have been doing much the same (i.e. shifting my portfolio into income producing assets) and doing some swing trading and the like on margin. Mentally I'm a bit hung up on the fact that a rise in interest rates will decrease the value of my portfolio but not...

How much is enough to retire?

I've done a lot of reading on this topic lately and the answer is - it depends. Where you live, life style, risk averseness, assumptions about social security, whether or not you have a pension and health insurance, present age and life expectancy, etc. In "Living the American Dream - How to...

    Trading Book -- 2

Excuse my ignorance (although I am reasonably computer savy), but what's an "rar file"? To what application do I associate the file to be able to read it? Thanks.
