    Archiving of IB activity statements

HOBO, I tried what you said with today's activity statement. It took quite a while to delete all of my files, including the offline ones. Then I closed the browser and opened my saved file. It worked. So I don't know what else to tell you.

    Archiving of IB activity statements

Try saving the statement in .htm format. To do this, with the statement open in your browser, go to File > Save As and in the "Save as type" field select "Web Page, HTML only". When you open the file you will have the full statement with all sections expanded.

    IB interest calculation?

I tried your calculation using my last statement. Using the prior day's settled cash and your calculation, I was a bit off. I did it again using 365 days (instead of 360) and got within 1 cent.

Do you trade spot FX with IB?

I placed a manual sell of the 30.00 CAD and received 29.98 USD. The transaction was priced at the current bid price (which I accepted) with no commission deduction.

Do you trade spot FX with IB?

Out of curiosity, I gave this a try the other day. I completed a trade not involving my base currency (USD) and ended up with 30 CAD net profit. I converted the CAD back to USD using IDEAL but WAS NOT charged a commission. I'm not sure if this was because it was such a small trade or because...

You are correct. No charge if paying bundled commission rate.

Just received my IB Secure Device.. Here's how it works

I've had this token device for some time and agree it's no big deal to use. The added security is nice. But one day it won't work due to a dead battery, and in my device, it's not changeable by the user. So unless IB is willing to give temporary exemption (which in itself would be a control...

    Correlation trading on Currency Pairs

It's not like trading stock pairs. All currency trades involve a pair. For example, if you buy Euros with $, you're going long the Euro and short the $. If by currency pairs you mean buy Euros with $ and sell Swiss Francs for $, it's still not a pairs trade since there's a cross trade...

IB TWS's forced upgrade (deadline 20061222)

I'm sure it's a real balancing act for IB. On the one hand, traders are asking for TWS enhancements as soon as possible, so they need to frequently issue new releases. On the other hand, someone reports a problem from 10 releases ago. Maybe the problem doesn't exist on a later version. Or...

canadian income trusts to be taxed

The question is simply will the USD fall against the CAD? The USD may weaken for all the reasons indicated but might still strengthen relative to the CAD. The Canadian economy is starting to slow down (due to the U.S. slow down) and further interest rates increases seem unlikely. I heard two...

canadian income trusts to be taxed

What are you all doing to hedge against a decline in the CAD? That's the main risk I see with these trusts right now.

    XOM in the upcoming week?

I don't watch Jim Cramer on CNBC too often but did catch the first 10 minutes of his show last night. He spent several minutes harshly criticizing XOM, explained why he didn't like it and why Chevron and others are better companies to invest in. And then he said . . . "BUY XOM!" The reason...

    IB Bundled vs Unbundled Pricing.

If you're only day trading, then you'll save money on any volume level. If you've got some positions that go overnight, you'll breakeven at low volumes. But if you're holding for multiple days, the small commission savings is wiped out due to the overnight fee except at high volumes (> 1000...

    IB Bundled vs Unbundled Pricing.

Whether or not the unbundled pricing works for you on Globex futures depends on the number of contracts bought or sold during the month and your holding period (since there's an overnight charge per contract). A couple of months ago I spent some time with my monthly statement and recomputed the...

canadian income trusts to be taxed

U.S. trust owners are subject to 15% withholding tax on distributions but this is recoverable as a foreign tax payment on your tax return.

canadian income trusts to be taxed

I'm watching PGH and have also been surprised at how far down a trust like this can fall. But independent of a change in oil prices, its hard to see it getting lower than where it's at now. The yield is nearly 18%, management holds the monthly distribution relatively constand, and their...

canadian income trusts to be taxed

I'm in the camp that says most trusts won't need to reduce their distributions at this time (unless they would have been reduced for reasons other than the tax change). But regarding the oil and gas trusts specifically, it's quite possible that distributions will go up in these trusts. They...

    IB Statements

I've never checked on the accuracy of the cash forex rates shown on the statement. My assumption is that they are consistent time wise with the futures rates. That is, the difference between the cash and futures rate shown on the IB statement should be the same as the difference between cash...

    IB Statements

I find that each day's statement correctly shows the futures settlement price as reported by the exchange for the previous day. For example, for your November 8 statement that will arrive the morning of November 9, the Euro futures settlement price will be as reported by CME for November 8...
