I realize you don't like me and you'll probably flame me for posting something so "worthless". But, I think you need to learn more about Money Management and Risk Control, too. You'll find few if any pro traders who would recommend allocating 50% of your account on one idea.

S&P Futures: Mini or Big Contract

I used to trade the "big ones", but when electronic trading came into full swing I switched to the ES. The commission is about the same. The full size cost me $25 a rt, and I can do 5 ES for about the same. Plus, now I have the luxury of scaling out, and instant fills. (no more phone calls)...

Looks like there"s still a couple of suckers out there trading options...hehe (just kidding)

Hmmmm...I think the facts speak differently. Mr. Trester wrote his 1st edition of this book in 1977. The book is now in it's 4th edition, and to quote from Amazon..."One of the best selling options books ever." I read the book 15 years ago when I was just getting started, and I would...

Sorry dude, I was just curious as to what money management and risk ideology you were using. Didn't mean to upset you, which apparently I have...:(

    covered calls

Ya, that's what I was going to say, but it's sort of hard to explain to a lot of people. Here's a chart showing the comparison. As, you can see the "selling a put" strategy does in fact have an edge over covered call writing. Hope this helps...

Are you saying that if these calls expire worthless, you'll lose 50% of your account?

Short term trading vs. long term trading

I don't know dude, good points. I know there are some pro traders out there that make a heck of a lot of money swing trading, too.

Short term trading vs. long term trading

If you gave two traders $10,000, and one was a daytrader and the other was a swing trader, and they were both equal in trading skill for their perspective styles. Then, you set a time limit of say one month to a year, I believe the daytrader would make much more money than the swing trader...

    Help with something please

Ya, sounds like he was talking about an arbitrage play. Here's a simple definition:..."Buying a security or commodity in one market and simultaneously selling the same or related instrument in another market in an attempt to profit from short-term price differentials."

I'm assuming you made this post to differentiate from System and Method...and I agree 100%. The odds of getting a mechanical system that actually works is very low. But, I believe the traditional methods can make money, in the hands of a skilled trader. Sorry, if I didn't make that...

Hmmmmm...well, the markets kind of slow right now, so I'll take the chance of getting distracted in a heated debate here...lol I don't agree with that. I think there are many methods that work. The real problem is, does it work for you? Just because you can't make money trading...

If you have something to say funky...say it. Yes, I felt at the time it seemed like a good strategy. If you have a problem with that, just let me know.

Cool...thanks for checking it out. Ya, I agree about using other setups. I could see by just glancing at a few charts that I would miss a lot of pullbacks in a strong trending market waiting for the RSI to give a signal. He'd probably do better just dumping the RSI and using the support and...

Seems like a pretty decent strategy. The only problem I have with it is there's no trend indicator. Are you using something to help you determine if you're in an up or down trend? If you had something to determine the trend and only took the signals with the trend, I don't see why it...

    Charting --- who uses what?

LOL...reminds me of when I used to draw my charts by hand (back before there was an internet) using the daily newspapers. Get with it gbungard...times have changed!... :D (just ribbing ya...I know there's nothing like doing charts by hand to get a feel for a market)

    simple question

No, this guy must have stole it from you, first. :D Analogy Short Selling has got to be the hardest damn thing to explain to someone who's never heard of it. I've been trying to explain it to my mother for 5 years now, and I still don't think she gets it...lol
