    can IB go bankrupt?

If Timberhill is backing them up so much, why did IB have to offer notes?

    Revamped site...

The left sidebar. On my system the two blues aren't quite the same. You can fix this by making the blue around the buttons transparent and it will blend with the background color of the sidebar.

    Revamped site...

You need to make the background of the buttons on the sidebar transparent because that color doesn't mesh with the color of the sidebar.

Who is the better technician, Alan Farley or Gary B. Smith?

Gary B. Smith posts his trades and yearly results. So we know he actually trades full time. His TA is also simpler which I prefer. Alan's style may be more to your liking though so you may want to try out both. I personally wouldn't spend money on a stock picker newsletter so my opinion may not...

    Recognizable patterns, validity?

Are these really that reliable? I think a lot of people see them when they don't really exist. Whenever I find a good one they never seem to pan out. (I don't trade them.)

    Recognizable patterns, validity?

I have seen some perfect setups that worked great. But I don't like it if they are found by a lot of other people and everybody knows about it. If Wordens, newsletters and web sites all say look at this tgreat pattern about to set up it most of the time doesn't work. This is why I think it's...

    Trading Maxims/Quotes

We must learn to differentiate clearly the fundamentally important, that which is really basic, from that which is dispensable, and to turn aside from everything else, from the multitude of things which clutter up the mind and divert it from the essential. -Albert Einstein One of my goals...

    Swing and Intraday Set-ups

I would agree with you it would be better for volume to dry up on the decline, however i believe the higher up volume on Friday than the volume on the down days is significant. As far as supply and demand goes it's possible that the sellers got sold out on that decline. Plus, this sector is very...

    Self Promoting Guru

the last hour of the day the stock was just screaming). I should have taken my profits there because my sell rule came into effect. Could you describe your sell rule? Thanks. Sometimes a strong close is reason to hold but sometimes a big runup is a buying climax.

    Year-End Plays - "year-enders"

I have no idea about fundamentals but a couple of small ones I've been watching and playing are PPRO and BVSN. BVSN came out of the Naz 100 like ARBA. It has already come up quite a bit since Friday after a lot of selling though.

    Year-End Plays - "year-enders"

Would another strategy be to buy stocks that have done well that fund managers may want to "dress up" at the end of the year? A Sunday edition of the Wall Street Journal hasd a list of 10 stocks that have done well that fund managers like: AZO ACS THC MSFT FOX ET GENZ LOW SPLS APPB...

My History on Elite Trader for those who care ...

    >>>1. stock closes at top 10% of range (202 samples) next high higher than today's close: 86% I think that's what he's getting at. The next day the stock will go higher at some point. For the closing in the bottom 10% you would need to find if the stock has a lower low the next day.

The Most Profitable SIMPLE Trading Method

I agree your trendline is more relavent to the trading most of us do. The nasdaq has broken all downtrend lines and that last one is the only one left so that's why I focus on that one right now. I don't disagree with your assessment. Jeff

The Most Profitable SIMPLE Trading Method

Are you saying that horizontal levels are what provide more valid support and resistance? I just want to be clear I undstand you. Would love to hear discussion on this. I have tended to use horizontal levels as more important for s/r as this shows, sometimes overlooked trendline support. I'm...

The Most Profitable SIMPLE Trading Method

Most people here are short term or day traders. The last 10 weeks have clearly been an uptrend. Most here aren't long term technical traders who will use Dow Theory for market direction. Most trade with the intermediate or even the next level down trend. It think it's real close as far as...
