    What books do you recommend

Code Warriors It's about NSA and not an investment book, but since James Simons was once a code breaker, I decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint me.

"I was poor, then I became rich, then I was poor again"

I also read his first book, it is an interesting book but I came away with the impression that it was half-baked. The book by his mentee Toby Crabel is much better.

US has banned High-tech export to China for a long time.

China Would Outlast U.S. in Trade War, Billion-Dollar Fund Says

I cannot think of any winner in a trade war. Even the workers who lost jobs to overseas probably will not get their jobs back, as these jobs will be done by robots eventually. Take Apple for example. If Apple moves the manufacturing of Iphone to US, there are two consequences. First the cost...

How would infrastructure spending benefit the working class?

Kahn Academy is completely free, and from what I heard, the math part is quite good, better than what the average public schools can offer. Not sure about other subjects though. I agree about the part using the public funds /tax credits to build educational apps.

How would infrastructure spending benefit the working class?

If the ER doctor deems that you need hospitalization, then I think the hospital has to admit you even without insurance.

How would infrastructure spending benefit the working class?

There are already such programs, some of them are free (like Kahn Academy developed by an immigrant from Pakistan), and some are fee-based.

How would infrastructure spending benefit the working class?

There are 20 millions people in US who are on ACA. It will be a disaster if these people lose ACA in case of a repeal. I didn't like ACA but I think it is a good option for those people who cannot get elsewhere.

What if iPhone is built in the US due to charging high tariff for imports

I was thinking about the same thing. The only way low-end US workers can compete with cheaper foreign labors is to rise the price through tariff on imports. Which makes consumers unhappy.

yellen not with Trump on $1 trillion infrastructure spending

To answer my own question, Ross owns some textile factories in China. To give one a clue about keeping jobs in US, this guy did something interesting in the early 2000, when he bought several steel companies on the verge of bankruptcy. He then turned around to lobby the US government to impose...

yellen not with Trump on $1 trillion infrastructure spending

Me think Trump has already forgot his promises by now. Now Wilbur Ross will become the Commerce Secretary. Do you guys have insight about this guy? What is his view on international trade?

Hilarious, now higher rates are positive for stocks ??

The bull market has been here for seven years. How long can Trump stretch it by stimulus spending and other tricks? What if Trump starts a trade war with Mexico or China? Now that the US dollar has appreciated, how will Trump make stuff made in US more competitive? Trump himself has said he...

James Comey fails to follow Justice Department rules yet again

No one knows Comey's intention yet, but he obviously thrives at inserting himself into the big events such at the presidential election. As a header of a secrete intelligence service, he should have avoided spotlights and kept a low profile. Disclaim. I am not a liberal.

Liberals Are Losing It After FBI Announces Hillary is Back Under Investigation

I am not liberal nor am a US citizen, but I found the fact that a secrete intelligence service (e.g. FBI) can have such a big impact on the presidential election very strange, to say the least.

?Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning?

The original purpose of AI was to mimic human intelligence, at least that was the impression I got from sitting in Geoffrey Hinton's class on AI a long time ago. But now it is almost certain that one can do much better than that with machine learning, namely one can use machine learning to...
